An analysis of the environmental planning framework for coastal developments in Fiji's coral coast tourist region : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements of a degree in Masters of Philosophy in Resource and Environmental Planning at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This thesis examines Fiji's environmental planning framework with particular reference to tourism development along the coast. This focus is an acknowledgement of the coastal ecosystems upon which the tourism industry depends.

Preferences for post‐traumatic osteoarthritis prevention strategies in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives There is growing interest in evaluating new strategies to delay or prevent post‐traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) in individuals who have sustained anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. This study sought to determine characteristics of potential treatments that are acceptable to patients with ACL injury.

Optimized Time–Frequency Analysis for Induction Motor Fault Detection Using Hybrid Differential Evolution and Deep Learning Techniques

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Workflow of the parameter optimization process for ITSC fault detection, applying Differential Evolution optimization and the Smooth Pseudo Wigner‐Ville Distribution for signal processing. The optimized parameters are then used in the failure identification pipeline, which combines the signal processing with a YOLO‐based architecture for fault severity

HMGB1 Derived from the Pyroptotic Microenvironment Promotes Macrophage Extracellular Traps in Hirschsprung‐Associated Enterocolitis

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
HMGB1 derived from the pyroptotic environment in Hirschsprung‐associated enterocolitis mediates the formation of macrophage extracellular traps through TLR4 ‐p38 MAPK/p65 NF‐kB signaling pathways. Macrophage extracellular traps induce increased ROS production and pyroptosis of colonic epithelial cells.

Infrared Neural Stimulation Elicits Distinct Molecular Pathways in Astrocytes Based on Laser Pulse Parameters

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Infrared (IR) light evokes distinct calcium and water transport responses in astrocytes, depending on stimulation duration and protocol. This study uses widefield imaging and pharmacology to reveal differential engagement of astroglial signaling pathways.
