ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY AND TRADE LIBERALIZATION: THE CASE OF TRANSBOUNDARY POLLUTION FROM CONSUMPTION [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper develops a reciprocal market model of international duopoly with transboundary pollution from consumption to examine the effects of bilateral tariff reductions on the equilibrium pollution tax and welfare. We show that tariff reductions induce

Phase Fraction Modulation Enhances Li+/Na+ Diffusion Disparity in Spent LiFePO4 Cathodes for Efficient Lithium Extraction from Brine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A direct cascaded utilization strategy for spent LiFePO4 batteries efficiently extracts lithium from brine, embodying the “urban mining” concept. Phase fraction modulation revealed its significant impact on local bond lengths of crystal structure and the Li/Na diffusion energy barrier, identifying the best material (Li0.19FePO4) for lithium extraction.

Economic structure, development policy and environmental quality : an empirical analysis of environmental Kuznets curves with Chinese municipal data [PDF]

open access: yes
In many cases, the relationship between environmental pollution and economic development can be generally depicted by an inverted U-shaped curve, or an environmental Kuznets curve, where pollution increases with income at the beginning and decreases ...

Simultaneous Wastewater‐to‐Hydrogen Upgrading via Mechanically Driven Piezocatalysis Over Ag‐ZnO Nanorods

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A piezocatalytic strategy enables simultaneous wastewater purification and hydrogen generation by harnessing mechanical energy. Complementary piezo‐induced charges are selectively directed toward oxidation and reduction pathways, achieving efficient pollutant degradation and continuous H2 evolution.

UNCERTAINTY AND THE REGULATION OF NITRATE POLLUTION FROM AGRICULTURE

open access: yes
A simulation of U.S. corn production compares four environmental policies for controlling agricultural nitrate pollution. Public uncertainty about key economic parameters are considered.

Bioinspired Interfacial Hydration Engineering via Metal–Organic Frameworks for Efficient Nitrate‐To‐Ammonia Conversion in Neutral Media

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by Nitrite reductase, a metal–organic framework overlayer is introduced to regulate the interfacial hydration microenvironment on Cu electrodes, enriching hydrated K+ species that act as efficient proton donors. This strategy enables nitrate‐to‐ammonia conversion with near‐unity selectivity at industrial‐level current densities in neutral ...

Ultrafast, High‐Capacity Uranium Harvesting From Seawater via a Hierarchically Porous Polymer Electrode

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A hierarchically porous AOPIM‐CNT electrode enables uranium harvesting from seawater via adsorption‐promoted electrodeposition. Rapid diffusion and selective adsorption are coupled with electrochemical crystallization and spontaneous detachment, creating a self‐refreshing process that sustains high‐capacity, continuous extraction from ultradilute ...
