Renewable resource management with environmental prediction [PDF]
Variations in environmental conditions affect renewable resource growth. The ability to predict such variations is improving, providing scope for improved management. We generalize a common stochastic stock recruitment model to explore how optimal management changes with environmental prediction. We obtain three main results. First, while it might seem

Environmental Human Resource Management
1998Although human resource management is an area much less involved than most in environmental protection, it is here that long-term, significant preconditions are created for the effectiveness of environmental management in a company. This is true not only in terms of the qualification requirements set when selecting and promoting personnel, but also in ...

Management of Environmental Resources and Environmental Policy
1992We have in previous chapters argued that the basic problem in managing environmental resources is the problem of incentives. Environmental resources are often such that it is not in the best of interest of the individual to act in a way that is best for the society at large. The basic objective of environmental policy is therefore to create an economic

Resource and Environmental Management
2019Change. Complexity. Uncertainty, Conflict, Ambiguity. Intractability. Wicked problems. Ethics, Integrity. All these terms capture much of what resource and environmental managers must address in determining the most appropriate course of action relative to social-ecological systems.

Valuing environmental resources under alternative management regimes
Ecological Economics, 1991Abstract This paper shows that the economic values of resources depend in part on the management regime. The value of a resource supporting a commercial fishery will depend on whether the fishery is optimally managed or open access. The Ellis-Fisher (1987) data are used to calculate values under alternative assumptions about management.

Woodfuel resource use and environmental management
Energy Policy, 1989Abstract The deterioration of the woodfuel resource base in developing countries is being increasingly perceived as a problem of land management. Given this focus, the economics of natural resource use can provide a framework appropriate for an integrated analysis of environmental and energy-related issues of biomass resource management.

Managing information resources and environmental turbulence
Information Management & Computer Security, 1997Using a sample of large industrial firms from two industries with differing external turbulence ‐ commercial banking and pharmaceutical ‐ hypothesizes that the need for a senior manager of information technology is essential in high‐turbulence industries (commercial banking).
