Scientific opinion on the assessment of the exposure of the population of the republic of Croatia to delta‐9‐tetrahydrocanabinol (δ9‐thc) from industrial hemp food on the market of the republic of Croatia

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 4, October 2025.
Summary Delta‐9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) is a naturally occurring psychoactive compound derived from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. In 2015, EFSA established an acute reference dose (ARfD) of 1 μg/kg body weight (bw) for Δ9‐THC and assessed acute dietary exposure from milk and dairy products.

Acetic acid bacteria encode two levansucrase types of different ecological relationship

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 21, Issue 11, Page 4151-4165, November 2019., 2019
Summary Acetic acid bacteria (AAB) are associated with plants and insects. Determinants for the targeting and occupation of these widely different environments are unknown. However, most of these natural habitats share plant‐derived sucrose, which can be metabolized by some AAB via polyfructose building levansucrases (LS) known to be involved in ...

Scientific report on the determination of the presence of cannabinoids in industrial hemp food on the market of the Republic of Croatia

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 4, October 2025.
Summary Cannabis sativa L. is one of the oldest cultivated plants on the planet. It was initially used by humans as a source of roughage for animals and as a textile fiber; over time, it has been used as a source of food and medicine.

Many metabolic and biological processes are catalyzed by enzymes; Enzymes are organic chemical compounds that belong to the specific group of biomolecules called proteins. Enzymes have in their quaternary molecular structure, internal organizations that allow  defining a place called the active center; its chemical, kinetic, and thermodynamic function ...

Socioecology and Prevalence of SARS‐CoV‐2 Infection in Quilombolas Living in the Brazilian Amazon Socioecologia e Prevalência de Infecção pelo SARS‐CoV‐2 em Quilombolas Vivendo na Amazônia Brasileira Socioecología y prevalencia de la infección por SARS‐CoV‐2 en quilombolas que viven en la Amazonía brasileña

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Human Biology, Volume 37, Issue 5, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives This cross‐sectional study presents socioecological, epidemiological aspects, and the seroprevalence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) in a group of quilombola (afro‐derived) communities in the states of Pará and Tocantins, in the Brazilian Amazon, to evaluate the impact ...
