Enzyme kinetics, structural analysis and molecular modeling studies on a series of Schistosoma mansoni PNP inhibitors [PDF]
The enzyme purine nucleoside phosphorylase from Schistosoma mansoni (SmPNP) is an attractive molecular target for the development of novel drugs against schistosomiasis, a neglected tropical disease that affects about 200 million people worldwide. In the

Circulating cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) is not found in healthy subjects but is readily detected after thermal injury and may contribute to the risk of multiple organ failure. The authors hypothesized that a postburn reduction in DNase protein/enzyme activity could contribute to the increase in cfDNA after thermal injury.

ABSTRACT Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic microorganisms known for producing diverse bioactive compounds. This study explores the bioactivity of extracts and fractions from Amazonian cyanobacteria and their pigment and phenolic compound production. A fraction from Synechococcus sp. CACIAM 05 showed cytotoxicity against hCMEC/D3 and MG‐63 cells.
