Review of the Structural Characteristics and Biological Activities of Tricholoma Secondary Metabolites (2018–2023)

open access: yesMolecules
Tricholoma are significant medicinal and edible mushrooms within Basidiomycota. Known for their various medicinal properties such as anti-tumor, immune regulation, and antioxidant effects, they are regarded worldwide as health foods of the 21st century ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Impact of microbiological molecular methodologies on adaptive sampling using nanopore sequencing in metagenomic studies

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiome
Introduction Metagenomics, the genomic analysis of all species present within a mixed population, is an important tool used for the exploration of microbiomes in clinical and environmental microbiology.

Protein-protein interactions of human somatic angiotensin-converting enzyme

open access: yes, 2011
In this study, novel disulphide bridges were engineered into the linker region of ACE [Angiotensin-converting enzyme] in an attempt to limit inter-domain movement, thereby producing a candidate for crystallisation and to determine the effect of these ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1494-1512, June 2026.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

The influence of fluorine substitution on some enzyme mediated reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The replacement of a hydrogen or hydroxy group with a fluorine atom is a popular strategy to alter the activity of biologically important molecules, as their similar sizes mean that such a replacement has little steric impact.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1473-1493, June 2026.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Ultraweak interactions drive cap-mediated positioning and elongation of the bacterial flagellar filament

open access: yesNature Communications
The bacterial flagellum, essential for motility and pathogenesis, requires the filament cap (FliD) to polymerize flagellin (FliC). However, the mechanisms governing the transition from the hook junction to the filament elongation remain elusive, obscured

Immunoregulatory enzymes

open access: yesActa Naturae
Immunoregulatory enzymes, which function both as biological catalysts and regulatory elements, play a crucial role in controlling immune responses. Dysfunction of these proteins can contribute to various pathological conditions, such as the suppression of antitumor immunity or impairment of anti-infectious immune responses.
