Enzyme Activation by Antibody

The Journal of Immunology, 1969
Abstract Antisera to bovine pancreatic ribonuclease were fractionated on columns of DEAE Sephadex A-50 and the fractions were characterized by allotype content, electrophoretic mobility, the heterogeneity of heavy chains and the effect on enzyme activity.

Enzymic activation of peptide

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1960
Abstract Hydroxamates of peptides were formed from some peptides by incubating with pH5 enzyme, hydroxylamine and ATP. l -Leucyl- l -tyrosyl-hydroxamate was identified by paper chromatography. The formation of glycyl- l -leucyl-hydroxamate was dependent on ATP.

Corticosteroids and Enzyme Activity

1964
Publisher Summary This chapter describes those enzymes that are altered following adrenalectomy or the administration of corticosteroids. The current literature on this subject is descriptive rather than interpretive. Although it bridges the interest of endocrinologists, pharmacologists, and biochemists, few answers are to be found at present to the ...

Nanomaterials with enzyme-like characteristics (nanozymes): next-generation artificial enzymes (II).

Chemical Society Reviews, 2019
Nanozymes are nanomaterials with enzyme-like characteristics (Chem. Soc. Rev., 2013, 42, 6060-6093). They have been developed to address the limitations of natural enzymes and conventional artificial enzymes.

Enzyme activities

2003
Abstract This account will concentrate on the behaviour of enzymes, the determination of their activities, and their responses to alterations in substrate concentration. Particular emphasis will be placed on studies of the effects of inhibitors, since these may be used as therapeutic drugs as well as tools to help elucidate their ...

Enzyme electrode-based kinetic assays of enzyme activities

Analytical Biochemistry, 1979
Abstract Potentiometric enzyme electrodes for urea, AMP, and adenosine have been used for the kinetic assays of arginase (EC 3.5.3.1.), 3′:5′-cyclic-nucleotide phosphodiesterase (EC 3.1.4.17), and 5′-nucleotidase (EC 3.1.3.5), respectively. The initial rate of potential change, after addition of the enzyme to the substrate solution, is direetly ...

Lignin-Degrading Enzyme Activities

2012
Over the past three decades, the activities of four kinds of enzyme have been purported to furnish the mechanistic foundations for macromolecular lignin depolymerization in decaying plant cell walls. The pertinent fungal enzymes comprise lignin peroxidase (with a relatively high redox potential), manganese peroxidase, an alkyl aryl etherase, and ...

Multimodulation of Enzyme Activity

1981
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the multimodulation of enzyme activity. Multimodulation of enzyme activity arises from the accumulation in a given enzyme of several regulatory mechanisms, whether of different types—cooperative, allosteric, interconversion, or of the same type—multiple allosteric effects, or of any combination of these ...

Enzymes and Enzyme Activity Encoded by Nonenveloped Viruses

Annual Review of Virology, 2017
Viruses are obligate intracellular parasites that rely on host cell machineries for their replication and survival. Although viruses tend to make optimal use of the host cell protein repertoire, they need to encode essential enzymatic or effector functions that may not be available or accessible in the host cellular milieu.
