PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Amplified biochemical oscillations in cellular systems

open access: yes, 2006
We describe a mechanism for pronounced biochemical oscillations, relevant to microscopic systems, such as the intracellular environment. This mechanism operates for reaction schemes which, when modeled using deterministic rate equations, fail to exhibit ...

Peptide synthesis by recombinant Fasciola hepatica cathepsin L1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Synthesis of the tripeptide Z-Phe-Arg-SerNH2 has been accomplished by a recombinant cysteine protease, cathepsin L1 from liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica), using Z-Phe-Arg-OMe as acyl acceptor and SerNH2 as nucleophile in 0.1 M ammonium acetate pH 9.0–12.5%

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Optimisation of serine protease extraction from mango peel (Mangifera Indica Cv. Chokanan). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This study investigated the possible relationship between the enzyme extraction variables, namely amount of buffer (25–75 ml, X1), temperature (−20, 25 °C, X2) and mixing time (1–3 min, X3) on total protein (Y1), total activity (Y2), specific activity ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Study on stability of microbial β-glucanase

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2007
In order to improve the β-glucanase stability, the effect of different substances on β-glucanase stability was studied through single factor experiments, and the orthogonal experiment was used to optimize the complex protective agents. Finally, stability

Galacto-oligosaccharides formation during manufacture of different varieties of yogurt. Stability through storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) have interest in the food industry due to their recognized functional properties. In this work, we studied the effect of a commercial β-galactosidase enzyme from Kluyveromyces lactis (YNL-2, GODO) and Lactobacillus ...
