Tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate disrupts dorsoventral patterning in zebrafish embryos [PDF]
Tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TDCIPP) is a high-production volume organophosphate flame retardant widely used within the United States. Within zebrafish, initiation of TDCIPP exposure at 0.75 h post-fertilization (hpf) results in genome-wide ...

Progesterone modulates microtubule dynamics and epiboly progression during zebrafish gastrulation.
Control of microtubule dynamics is crucial for cell migration. We analyzed regulation of microtubule network dynamics in the zebrafish yolk cell during epiboly, the earliest coordinated gastrulation movement. We labeled microtubules with EMTB-3GFP and EB3-mCherry to visualize and measure microtubule dynamics by TIRF microscopy live imaging.

A novel role for MAPKAPK2 in morphogenesis during zebrafish development.
One of the earliest morphogenetic processes in the development of many animals is epiboly. In the zebrafish, epiboly ensues when the animally localized blastoderm cells spread, thin over, and enclose the vegetally localized yolk.

Background: In this prospective cohort study (flap-off epi-eye-surgery), the results of femtosecond optical maser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (femto-eye-surgery) and epipolis eye-surgery refractile surgery for myopia were compared.

Programmed Endocytosis During Epiboly ofFundulus heteroclitus [PDF]
A major question in the analysis of teleost epiboly is the fate of the yolk cytoplasmic layer. It diminishes during epiboly and eventually disappears at the completion of epiboly. This paper is concerned with the fate of the surface of the yolk cytoplasmic layer during epiboly.

Contractility, differential tension and membrane removal lead zebrafish epiboly biomechanics [PDF]
Precise tissue remodeling during development is essential for shaping embryos and optimal organ function. Epiboly is an early gastrulation event by which the blastoderm expands around the yolk to engulf it. Three different layers are involved in this process, an epithelial layer (the enveloping layer, EVL), the embryo proper, constituted by the deep ...

Epiboly, the coordinated spreading of the enveloping layer (EVL), the yolk syncytial layer (YSL) and the deep cells (DCs) toward the vegetal pole, is required for gastrulation. Interference with the EVL leads to early developmental failure.

Zebrafish epiboly: mechanics and mechanisms
Gastrulation involves of a series of coordinated cell movements to organize the germ layers and establish the major body axes of the embryo. One gastrulation movement is epiboly, which involves the thinning and spreading of a multilayered cell sheet. Epiboly plays a prominent role in zebrafish gastrulation and studies of zebrafish epiboly have provided
