Epicardial Mapping: How to Measure Local Activation?
PACE - Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1990Epicardial ventricular mapping was performed in 5 dogs during sinus rhythm with a sock array containing 41 electrodes. Maps were generated with a computer‐assisted mapping system using four different definitions of local epicardial activation: (1) maximal negative slope (intrinsic deflection) of the unipolar electrogram, (2) maximal slope of the ...

Epicardial Mapping: Ventricular Epicardial Activation is Unaffected by Heart Position
Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1989Epicardial ventricular mapping was performed in five dogs during sinus rhythm with a sock array containing 41 bipolar electrodes. Maps were generated with a computer‐assisted mapping system when the heart was in situ and when the heart was lifted by 44° out of the chest.

Method for the computerised display of epicardial maps
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1983Epicardial mapping is an important method for locating the accurate portion of the accessory pathway. Mapping is usually executed by measuring the time of the major deflection (the activation time) between two electrodes about 1 mm apart. The epicardial isochrone map is made up of contour lines connecting points with an equal activation time on the ...

MYO-MAP—a fast recording system for epicardial mapping
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1981A low cost device for epicardial mapping, ‘MYO-MAP’ has been developed in order to shorten the mapping procedure time. It was designed using a relatively simple analogue network, combined with a spring loaded bioelectrode. The MYO-MAP can be used in the operating room to locate a reentry circuit, causing ventricular or supra-ventricular tachycardia ...

Perioperative Imaging to Guide Epicardial Mapping and Ablation
Cardiac Electrophysiology Clinics, 2020Accessing the epicardial space without a sternotomy or a surgical pericardial window to treat ventricular arrhythmias in Chagas disease became a medical necessity in South America. Since the introduction of the dry percutaneous epicardial access approach, epicardial access has been standard procedure for management of ventricular arrhythmias in ...

Epicardial Ventricular Tachycardia: Simultaneous Epicardial and Endocardial Mapping and Ablation
2020A 56-year old male with coronary artery disease was referred to our center for recurrent VT. A simultaneous epicardial and endocardial activation map exhibited a figure-of-eight pattern reentry using the deceleration zone as the isthmus on the epicardium and a centrifugal focal activation pattern on endocardium.

Implementation of real-time isopotential map in epicardial mapping system
2014 7th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics, 2014Isopotential map of cardiac are commonly used to study the spread of excitation in the heart. In this study, we propose a method for isopotential map construction used in realtime epicardial mapping. Firstly, heart contour was extracted from canine CT images and reconstructed to a three-dimensional mesh model of the heart. Secondly, OpenGL and MFC were

Efficacy of noncontact mapping in detecting epicardial activation
2009 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2009The aim of this study is to determine if some of the characteristics of reconstructed unipolar electrograms from the noncontact mapping system can be used to detect epicardial electrical activation in a canine heart. This would help the electrophysiologist know where exactly the origin or the critical point in tissue is located.
