Mapping of epicardial deformation using a video processing technique

Journal of Biomechanics, 1986
A method has been developed to measure deformation of the canine epicardium during the cardiac cycle simultaneously in a number (eight) of small regions (1 X 1 cm2). Approximately 50 white markers (diameter 1.5 mm) are attached to the epicardium and their motion is recorded on tape by a video camera. Marker positions are detected by computer processing

Estimation of epicardial activation maps from intravascular recordings

Journal of Electrocardiology, 1999
Multielectrode catheters provide a percutaneous means of recording activation near the epicardium but only for a relatively small number of sites that are restricted to the major coronary vessels. We have applied a statistical signal processing technique to estimate the value of activation time over the entire epicardium (490 sites) from leadsets ...

Simultaneous optical mapping system of endocardial and epicardial excitation

2014 36th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2014
The cardiac excitation propagation during arrhythmia shows a three-dimensional complex excitation behavior. Numerous optical measurements of the propagation and action potentials of the cardiac muscles have been made to elucidate the detailed arrhythmia phenomenon.

[Development of an electrode for atrial epicardial mapping].

Zhongguo yi liao qi xie za zhi = Chinese journal of medical instrumentation, 2002
Procedure of a electrode for atrial epicardial mapping (template electrode) is introduced in this paper. It is easy to made, we can get sharp and clear waveforms and a constant baseline while mapping. If the electrode is connected with computer, it is able to be used for epicardial mapping of atrial arrhythmias, especially atrial fibrillation in real ...

[Value of an automatic chronometer in epicardial mapping].

Archives des maladies du coeur et des vaisseaux, 1979
The use of a digital display automatic chronometer during epicardial mapping is reported. The epicardial potential recorded by a tripolar electrode is transformed electronically by amplification, filtering, rectifying negative deflections and then summation.

Real-Time Epicardial Excitation Time Map Overlay

2010
This paper presents a method to display Epicardial Excitation Time (ECET) map information intuitively to a surgeon. The method uses Conditional Density Propagation to track the epicardium during the complete cardiac cycle. Then, combining this algorithm with electrophysiological mapping techniques, pre-recorded ECET maps are overlay onto the surgeons ...

Epicardial Mapping and Ablation of Cardiac Arrhythmias

2013
Epicardial mapping and ablation of cardiac arrhythmias has been an important development in interventional electrophysiology. The fibrous and serous pericardia are separated by a space that permits introduction of a guide wire using a subxiphoid percutaneous approach. There are two major sinuses in the pericardial space.
