Dynamic Epicardial Mapping Using 3D Emulation

2008 International Conference on BioMedical Engineering and Informatics, 2008
Dynamic epicardial mapping is an important tool in cardiac electrophysiology. This article brings forward a method for 3D dynamic modeling used in epicardial mapping system. Firstly, 3DMAX was used to create a 3D heart model and an .ase file was stored. Secondly, OpenGL was applied to display this model in user's window interface.

Epicardial catheter mapping and ablation of ventricular tachycardia

Heart Rhythm, 2006
Percutaneous entry into the pericardial space allows epicardial catheter mapping and ablation in the electrophysiology laboratory, opening a perspective on cardiac electrophysiology that previously was limited largely to the operating room. Scar-related reentry after myocardial infarction usually involves the subendocardium but in some patients can ...

Strategies for Epicardial Mapping and Ablation of Ventricular Tachycardia

Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, 2009
Catheter ablation for ventricular tachycardia (VT) is becoming an essential component of the successful management of patients with structural heart disease and refractory ventricular arrhythmias. Despite detailed mapping and ablation from the endocardium, nearly a third of VT circuits remain inaccessible. Pericardial access has improved our ability to

Epicardial mapping in patients with “nodoventricular” accessory pathways

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1991
Some patients with electrophysiologic features suggesting nodoventricular fibers have been shown to have right parietal atrioventricular (AV) accessory pathways with decremental conduction properties intraoperatively. The experience with 11 patients (7 women and 4 men, mean age +/- standard deviation 25 +/- 5 years) who had electrophysiologic features ...

A New System for Whole-atrial Epicardial Mapping

2005 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology 27th Annual Conference, 2005
Epicardial mapping system is an important tool in the study and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Surgical therapy has been applied to eliminate atrial fibrillation (AF) for almost two decades, but there is still little effect on the treatment of AF in respect that the mechanism of AF is still unknown.

Usefulness of epicardial impedance evaluation for epicardial mapping and determination of epicardial ablation site for ventricular tachycardia: A pilot study

Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, 2017
AbstractBackgroundDuring epicardial mapping, determination of appropriate ablation sites in low voltage areas (LVA) is challenging because of large epicardial areas covered by adipose tissue.ObjectiveTo evaluate the impedance difference between epicardial fat and the epicardial LVA using multiple detector computed tomography (MDCT).MethodsWe enrolled ...

[Electrodes for epicardial electrical mapping].

Meditsinskaia tekhnika, 1984
Medical-technical characteristics of electrodes for epicardial mapping are examined. Most electrodes are bipolar. The differences between them lies either in the contact configuration or in the fixation mode. The dependence of biosignal amplitude and shape on the contact orientation with respect to the direction of excitation spread is described.

Identifying uncertainty in epicardial activation maps

Proceedings Computers in Cardiology, 2003
Epicardial activation maps in surviving infarct regions are derived by: (1) choosing a specific activation time at each recording site and (2) interpolating the data so that contours can be drawn representing the activation wavefronts. Concentrating on the latter problem, the spatial autocorrelation function (SAF) was calculated to evaluate the ...

The Simultaneous Multiple Sites Epicardial Mapping of Ventricular Fibrillation

2005 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology 27th Annual Conference, 2005
Some recently researches have showed that cardiac electrical activities are chaotic during ventricular fibrillation (VF) [1]. It is very difficult to realize the originations and evolvements of these complex activities by used of non-simultaneous mapping techniques. Simultaneous multiple sites epicardial mapping is one of the precise mapping techniques

Development of Epicardial Mapping System for Studying Atrial Fibrillation

2008 International Conference on BioMedical Engineering and Informatics, 2008
Epicardial mapping system is an important tool for studying electrophysiological characteristics of atrial fibrillation (AF). AF is the most common arrhythmia and is becoming more prevalent each year. Most in vivo experimental research on AF is performed by simultaneous epicardial mapping technique.
