Epigenetics and Regeneration

2012
During newt lens regeneration a unique transdifferentiation event occurs. In this process, dorsal iris pigmented epithelial cells transdifferentiate into lens cells. This system should provide a new insight into cellular plasticity in basic and applied research.

The Evolution of Epigenetics

Perspectives in Biology and Medicine, 2014
Early studies of the developing embryo raised the question of how a fertilized egg could give rise to a complex multicellular organism containing many different kinds of cells. The term epigenetics originally referred to the study of these processes.

Epigenetics in lupus

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2011
Accumulating epidemiological, clinical, and experimental evidence supports the conclusion of a critical role of epigenetic factors in immune programming. This understanding provides the basis for elucidating how the intricate interactions of the genome, epigenome, and transcriptome shape immune responses and maintain immune tolerance to self‐antigens ...
