The return of metabolism: biochemistry and physiology of glycolysis
ABSTRACT Glycolysis is a fundamental metabolic pathway central to the bioenergetics and physiology of virtually all living organisms. In this comprehensive review, we explore the intricate biochemical principles and evolutionary origins of glycolytic pathways, from the classical Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas (EMP) pathway in humans to various prokaryotic and ...

ABSTRACT The vital cofactors NADH and NADPH are prone to hydration, forming hydroxylated redox‐inactive derivatives (NADHX and NADPHX) in cells. These damaged metabolites are repaired by two highly conserved enzymes, an NAD(P)HX dehydratase (NAXD) and an NAD(P)HX epimerase (NAXE).

(1S)-1,2-O-Benzylidene-α-d-glucurono-6,3-lactone
X-ray crystallographic analysis has established that the major product from the protection of d-glucoronolactone with benzaldehyde is (1S)-1,2-O-benzylidene-α-d-glucurono-6,3-lactone, C13H12O6, rather than the R epimer.

Investigation of the biosynthesis of exopolysaccharides within the biofilm matrix of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiea : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology and Genetics at Massey University, Manawatu, New Zealand [PDF]
Polysaccharides are highly abundant natural biopolymers, which have biologically significant structural functions in living organisms. Various polysaccharides, with specific physicochemical properties, contribute to biofilm formation; defined as cell ...

ABSTRACT This study investigates the foliar secondary metabolite profiles of four Mitragyna species naturally occurring in Thailand: M. diversifolia, M. hirsuta, M. rotundifolia, and M. speciosa (kratom). Using untargeted gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS), 409 secondary volatile metabolites were annotated across the four species.

Controlled diastereoselectivity at the alkene-geometry through selective encapsulation: E-Z photoisomerization of oxazolidinone-functionalized enecarbamates within hydrophobic nano-cavities [PDF]
Photoisomerization of encapsulated Z-enecarbamates within the hydrophobic chiral cavities of γ-CD showed higher diastereoselectivities in the photoproducts than those obtained in solution.
