The impact of epiphytic algae on the foliar traits of Potamogeton perfoliatus [PDF]
This study investigated the effect of epiphyton on foliar traits of a submerged rooted macrophyte, Potamogeton perfoliatus, in a shallow freshwater lake, highlighting its influence on the ecological dynamics of littoral zones in aquatic ecosystems.

Responses of four submerged macrophytes to freshwater snail density (Radix swinhoei) under clear‐water conditions: A mesocosm study [PDF]
Macrophytes play a key role in stabilizing clear‐water conditions in shallow freshwater ecosystems. Their populations are maintained by a balance between plant grazing and plant growth.

Structural changes of the phytoplankton and epiphyton in an urban hypereutrophic reservoir [PDF]
: Aim This study evaluated the temporal changes of phytoplankton and epiphyton structure and their relationships with limnological factors in an urban hypereutrophic reservoir (Rasgão Reservoir, Brazil).

Cyanotoxins in Epipelic and Epiphytic Cyanobacteria from a Hypersaline Coastal Lagoon, an Environmental Hazard in Climate Warming Times and a Potential Source of New Compounds [PDF]
Cyanobacterial biodiversity and potential toxicity in coastal lagoons have barely been studied despite these transitional water systems being very important in conservation and for the preservation of economic resources.

Epiphyton in Agricultural Streams: Structural Control and Comparison to Epilithon [PDF]
Stream biofilms play an important role in the structure, functioning, and integrity of agricultural streams. In many lowland streams, macrophyte vegetation is abundant and functions as an important substrate for biofilm (epiphyton) in addition to the gravel and stone substrate for epilithon on the stream bed.

Structure of epiphyton communities on Lake Baikal submerged macrophytes [PDF]
Abstract We carried out a first study of Lake Baikal epiphyton on six species of submerged macrophytes: Myriophyllum spicatum L., Potamogeton perfoliatus L., Potamogeton sp., Sparganium gramineum Georgi, Ceratophyllum demersum L., and Elodea сanadensis Michaux.

Denitrification within the sediments and epiphyton of tropical macrophyte stands
Excess nitrogen (N) is one of the most widespread and serious pollutants in the environment, but wetlands can reduce N loads, ameliorating its damaging effects downstream. Tropical wetlands are highly productive and experience high temperatures year-round, resulting in potentially high denitrification rates. However, few measurements of denitrification

Phosphorus release by submerged macrophytes: Significance to epiphyton and phytoplankton1,1 [PDF]
The contribution of nine species of macrophytes to the phosphorus nutrition of their epiphytes and the rates of P release by Myriophyllum spicatum L. were measured in situ on fully labeled (32P) plants. The epiphytes derived only 3.4–9.0% of their P from the supporting macrophyte, indicating that previously suggested macrophyte‐epiphyte nutrient ...

Nitrous oxide production by estuarine epiphyton [PDF]
Nitrous oxide was produced by denitrifying bacteria in epiphytic communities on the surface of the macroalgae Enteromorpha sp. and Fucus sp. during spring‐summer in the Tamar estuary, SW England. Denitrification and N2O production exhibited diel variability, in response to photosynthetic oxygen production.
