TiO2-Modified Zirconia Surface Improves Epithelial Cell Attachment

The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants, 2019
Good cell adhesion is an important prerequisite for soft tissue attachment on implant abutment or crown surfaces. The aim of this study was to evaluate the adhesion and proliferation of human epithelial cells on sol-gel-derived TiO2-coated and noncoated zirconia.Altogether, 56 zirconia disks (Z-CAD, Metoxit) were fabricated for this study.

Attachment of columnar airway epithelial cells in asthma

Tissue and Cell, 2005
Shedding of airway epithelial cells is a common finding in asthma. In this study, the attachment of the airway epithelial cells to the basal lamina (BL) was investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of biopsies from patients with atopic asthma and healthy controls.

Attachment of epithelial cells and fibroblasts to ceramic materials

Biomaterials, 1994
This study examined in vitro gingival epithelial and fibroblast cell attachment to ceramic materials made of tricalcium phosphate and/or magnesium aluminate spinel. The composite made of tricalcium phosphate and spinel is called 'osteoceramic'. These ceramics had various compositions and surface structures, which were initially characterized.

Bacterial Attachment To Uro-Epithelial Cells: Mechanisms and Consequences

Advances in Dental Research, 1997
Microbial attachment to mucosal surfaces is a first step in mucosal infection. Specific interactions between microbial surface ligands and host receptors influence the distribution of microbes in their sites of infection. Adhesion has often been regarded as a sufficient end point, explaining tissue tropism and bacterial persistence at mucosal sites ...

Ultrastructural Study of Epithelial Cell Attachment to Implant Materials

Journal of Dental Research, 1985
Attachment of gingival tissues to the protruding post of an endosseous dental implant is of great importance for the prognosis of its clinical success. Little is known about the requirements an implant material must meet to secure a durable permucosal seal.

Entactin modulates the attachment of rabbit corneal epithelial cells

Current Eye Research, 1996
To understand the biological activity of entactin, a component of the basement membrane of the corneal epithelium, we investigated the ability of rabbit corneal epithelial cells to attach to an entactin matrix and the effect of entactin on the cells' attachment to other corneal basement proteins.Multiwell plastic plates were coated with bovine serum ...

Bacterial attachment to oropharyngeal epithelial cells in breastfed newborns

International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, 1996
On day 2 post partum, swab samples were obtained from the oropharyngx of 20 healthy, breast-fed babies. The samples were examined for aerobes (culture on agar plates), for bacterial coating with the immunoglobulins SIgA, IgG and IgM (immunofluorescence assay), for bacterial attachment to epithelial cells (fluorescence microscopy of acridine orange ...

Attachment of Treponema denticola to cultured human epithelial cells

European Journal of Oral Sciences, 1984
Abstract – The present electron microscopic study visualizes adherence of Treponema denticola, the most common treponeme of the gingival crevice in man, to human epithelial cells in vitro. The number of organisms adhering to the cells increased with increase in the treponemal concentration from 106 cells/ml through 108 cells/ml.
