Enhancing antibody patent protection using epitope mapping information

open access: yesmAbs, 2017
As the $100B therapeutic monoclonal antibody (mAb) market continues to grow, developers of therapeutic mAbs increasingly face the need to strengthen patent protection of their products and enforce their patents in courts. In view of changes in the patent

Retinal S-antigen Th1 cell epitope mapping in patients with Behcet's disease [PDF]

open access: yes
Background - Retinal S-antigen (S-Ag) is a most characterized autoantigen of autoimmune uveitis. The recognized immunodominant epitope of human S-Ag in patients with uveitis has not been identified. In this study, we selected certain patients with active

The carboxylate “gripper” of the substrate is critical for C‐4 stereo‐inversion by UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase (UGAepi) catalyzes NAD+‐dependent interconversion of UDP‐glucuronic acid (UDP‐GlcA) and UDP‐galacturonic acid (UDP‐GalA) via C4‐oxidation, 4‐keto‐intermediate rotation, and C4‐reduction. Here, Borg et al. examined the role of the substrate's carboxylate group in the enzymic mechanism by analyzing NADH‐dependent reduction

Epitope mapping and structural basis for the recognition of phosphorylated tau by the anti‐tau antibody AT8

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, 2016
Microtubule‐associated protein tau becomes abnormally phosphorylated in Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies and forms aggregates of paired helical filaments (PHF‐tau).

Design of Epitope-Based Vaccine Against SARS-CoV-2: An Immuno-Informatics Study

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Life Science
This study aimed to develop an epitope-based vaccine of SARS-CoV-2 S protein through an immuno-informatics study. The whole genome of SARS-CoV-2 sequences was obtained from the GISAID database and then trimmed to obtain the S protein sequences.

Deep Neural Network-Based Prediction of B-Cell Epitopes for SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2: Enhancing Vaccine Design through Machine Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The accurate prediction of B-cell epitopes is critical for guiding vaccine development against infectious diseases, including SARS and COVID-19. This study explores the use of a deep neural network (DNN) model to predict B-cell epitopes for SARS-CoVandSARS-CoV-2,leveraging a dataset that incorporates essential protein and peptide features.

B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.
