Bluetongue and Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease
2019Bluetongue is an arthropod-borne viral disease of ruminants characterized by congestion of the buccal and nasal mucosa and the coronary tissue of the hooves, stiffness due to muscle degeneration, and, on occasion, edema of the head and neck; congenital abnormalities may occur in the fetuses of animals infected during pregnancy.

Purification and stability of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus
Journal of Virological Methods, 1982Purification of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) from sonicated cell culture supernatant was effected using polyethylene glycol (PEG) precipitation and two CsCl density gradient centrifugations. During purification procedures the pH was maintained at values close to pH 8.0 as pH stability for EHDV was maximal between pH 7.2 and pH 9.0. During

Experimental infection of calves with epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1999Abstract Objective To determine whether experimental inoculation with a field strain of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus serotype-2 (EHDV-2) suspected of causing clinical disease in naturally infected cattle would cause clinical disease in calves. Animals 8 calves.

Epizootic of Hemorrhagic Disease in North Dakota Deer
The Journal of Wildlife Management, 1973Extensive mortality was observed among white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), but not mule deer (0. hemionus), in south-western North Dakota during the autumns of 1970 and 1971. It was estimated that at least 2,000 white-tailed deer died during the outbreak.

Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease Virus in Montana: Isolation and Serologic Survey
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1981SUMMARY Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (ehdv) was isolated in Vero cell culture from the spleen and whole blood of a white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus). A 10% spleen suspension caused acute hemorrhagic disease (hd) when inoculated into an experimental white-tailed deer and resulted in the recovery of ehdv from the blood of the experimental

Epizootic hemorrhagic disease in a yak.
The Canadian veterinary journal = La revue veterinaire canadienne, 2014Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) infection was diagnosed in a 3-year-old yak. The yak had signs of intermittent tremors, dysphagia, oral ulcerative lesions, hemorrhagic enteritis, tachypnea, and thrombocytopenia. Postmortem diagnostics confirmed EHDV (serotype 2) using reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus of deer: an electron microscopic study
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1970A mouse brain adapted strain of epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) virus of deer was studied by ultrathin section and negative contrast electron microscopy. In sections of infected BHK-21 cells and neurons of newborn mouse brains, aggregates of virus particles, some appearing to be lacking their outer coats, were observed within membrane-bound ...

Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus serotype 6 experimentation on adult cattle
Research in Veterinary Science, 2013Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV), an arthropod-borne orbivirus (family Reoviridae), is an emerging pathogen of wild and domestic ruminants closely related to bluetongue virus (BTV). EHDV serotype 6 (EHDV6) has recently caused outbreaks close to Europe in Turkey and Morocco and a recent experimental study performed on calves inoculated with ...
