Biguanide Hydroiodide as Efficient, Metal‐Free Catalyst for Synthesis of Cyclic Carbonates From CO2 and Epoxides Under Mild Conditions and Its Application to Synthesis of Polymer Bearing Cyclic Carbonate Moiety

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 63, Issue 13, Page 2707-2717, 1 July 2025.
We developed that novel use of biguanides as catalysts for the efficient synthesis of five‐membered cyclic carbonates (5CCs) from CO2 and epoxides. Among biguanides and their salts, biguanide hydroiodide showed efficient catalysis for the 5CC formation under mild conditions (25°C–60°C and 1 atm of CO2).

Remote sensing reveals inter‐ and intraspecific variation in riparian cottonwood (Populus spp) response to drought

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 7, Page 1760-1779, July 2025.
Leaf‐level spectroscopy and canopy‐level UAV thermal data captured inter‐ and intraspecific responses to water stress in cottonwoods, which are widely distributed in arid environments. This study demonstrates the potential of remote sensing to monitor and predict the impacts of drought on scales varying from leaves to landscapes. Abstract Understanding
