Photochemistry of Aromatic N‐Oxides in Water Probed by Time‐Resolved X‐ray Absorption Spectroscopy
Chemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.Time‐resolved XAS at the nitrogen and oxygen K‐edges is applied to the photorearrangement of two N‐oxides in water. Pyridine N‐oxide rapidly forms the oxaziridine isomer. Pyridazine N‐oxide undergoes ring opening to the diazo compound, without any evidence of intermediates.

Chemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.We report an efficient method for late‐stage installation of “clickable” alkyne groups into diverse (hetero)arenes. Using a dual‐ligand palladium catalyst that combines an NASA ligand with an N‐heterocycle, an acrylate unit bearing a terminal alkyne can be introduced via nondirected C─H activation.

Clinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.Cisplatin is a chemotherapy drug that causes permanent hearing loss by damaging a critical tissue lining the inner ear, called the stria vascularis (SV). Currently, the molecular mechanisms of SV damage are largely unknown and the incidence of ototoxicity in patients cannot be reliably predicted.
