The present studies identify the steric factors involved in the hydration of epoxide intermediates of some pesticides by hepatic epoxide hydrolase. Investigations were carried out regarding the formation of reactive epoxide intermediates and their different interactions with the hepatic epoxide hydrolase.

Multiple forms of epoxide hydrolase
1984Xenobiotic compounds are commonly rather nontoxic as such, but if they are lipophilic tend to accumulate in body tissues. The compounds must therefore be transformed to water-soluble metabolites in order to be excreted: in this process, reactive intermediates (such as epoxides, free radicals) can originate.

Leukotriene A4 hydrolase: An epoxide hydrolase with peptidase activity
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1990Purified leukotriene A4 hydrolase from human leukocytes is shown to exhibit peptidase activity towards the synthetic substrates alanine-4-nitroanilide and leucine-4-nitroanilide. The enzymatic activity is abolished after heat treatment (70 degrees C, 30 min).

The regulation of cytosolic epoxide hydrolase in mice
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1985The concentration of cytosolic epoxide hydrolase in untreated and clofibrate-treated mouse liver extracts was estimated by immunoblotting. Clofibrate treatment of mice was found to increase liver cytosolic epoxide hydrolase concentration by two fold, showing that the increase in cytosolic epoxide hydrolase in mouse liver after clofibrate treatment is ...

The challenge of optimizing several parameters in the directed evolution of enzymes remains a central issue. In this study we address the thermostability, enantioselectivity, and activity of limonene epoxide hydrolase (LEH) as the catalyst in the ...

Future Microbiology, 2017
AIM mesT of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a hypothetical/putative epoxide hydrolase, is predicted to convert toxic epoxides to the more water-soluble and less toxic diols. Detailed characterization of the protein was carried out.

The role of epoxide hydrolases in health and disease
Archives of Toxicology, 2014Epoxide hydrolases (EH) are ubiquitously expressed in all living organisms and in almost all organs and tissues. They are mainly subdivided into microsomal and soluble EH and catalyze the hydration of epoxides, three-membered-cyclic ethers, to their corresponding dihydrodiols. Owning to the high chemical reactivity of xenobiotic epoxides, microsomal EH

KINETIC AND CHEMICAL MECHANISM OF EPOXIDE HYDROLASE*
Drug Metabolism Reviews, 1999Epoxide hydrolases (EC 3.3.2.3) catalyze the trans-antiperiplanar addition of water to epoxides and arene oxides generated in the oxidation of unsaturated hydrocarbons [1][2][3].

[46] Microsomal epoxide hydrolase
1981Publisher Summary Microsomal epoxide hydrolase catalyzes the conversionof epoxides to glycols. The microsomal enzyme should not be confused with another epoxide hydrolase activity, found primarily in the cytosolic fraction, which differs greatly from membrane-bound enzyme in substrate specificity and immunological properties.
