Hygromnemics: Programmable Material Memory Matter Actuators via Wet Pre‐Constraining

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Humidity‐based pre‐constraining creates hygromnemics‐shape memory matter. From identical biocomposites actuation in dry and wet states is obtained via hygromnemic and hygromorphic actuation, respectively. Hygromnemic actuators present long‐ and short‐term shape memory abilities.

Transforming Plastic Waste into Strain Sensors: Multifunctional Upcycled TPEE Elastomers with MXene Multilayer Assemblies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A sustainable approach is reported for upcycling PET waste into thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE)‐based films with advanced properties, specifically designed for applications in strain sensing, conductivity, and photothermal response. Through a layer‐by‐layer deposition technique, TPEE films are fabricated with bio‐compatible chitosan (CH) or ...

Chemical Vapor Deposition of High‐Quality Graphene Using Carboxylated Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons as Solid Carbon Sources

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Graphene is grown from pyrene and its carboxylated derivative, 1‐pyrenecarboxylic acid (1‐PCA). The carboxylic acid group of 1‐PCA underwent decarboxylation to produce pyrene and CO2, thereby triggering the Boudouard reaction. This reaction results in graphene with high charge‐carrier mobility by decreasing vacancy‐type defects and oxygen groups in the
