Toughening β‐Ga2O3 via Mechanically Seeded Dislocations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
β‐Ga2O3 is promising for next‐generation semiconductors but its brittleness limits flexible and high‐precision applications. Here, mechanically seeded dislocations introduced by surface deformation improved damage tolerance in (001) β‐Ga2O3. Nanoindentation and characterization show dislocations suppress cleavage cracks by enabling stable plastic ...

Texture analysis in ultrafine grained coppers processed by equal channel angular pressing

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2013
Electrolytic tough pitch (ETP) and fire refined high conductivity (FRHC) copper samples were severely deformed at room temperature by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) up to 16 passes (ε ~ 1 per pass), following route Bc.

Strain distribution in severe plastic deformation of using equal channel angular pressing at 90° and 120° channel angles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Severe plastic deformation is capable of producing metals with ultra fine grained microstructure, and is the focus of this study. Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) was used to perform severe plastic deformation on a Zn alloy.

Toward Scalable Solutions for Silver‐Based Gas Diffusion Electrode Fabrication for the Electrochemical Conversion of CO2 – A Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the preparation techniques for silver‐based gas diffusion electrodes used for the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (eCO2R) are systematically reviewed and compared with respect to their scalability. In addition, physics‐based and data‐driven modeling approaches are discussed, and a perspective is given on how modeling can aid ...

Tensile behavior of an eutectic Pb–Sn alloy processed by ECAP and rolling

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2014
A eutectic lead–tin alloy was prepared by melting the commercially pure metals and cast in cylindrical molds with 10 mm diameter. The billets were processed by 4 passes of ECAP using a die with 90° between channels through route A and rolled to a final ...

Strength increase of carbon structural steels after tructure deformation refinement by the method of equal channel angular pressing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Special features of microstructure formation which determine mechanical properties during the equal channel angular pressing of carbon structural steel 20 and 45 are investigated.

Contact Lens with Moiré Patterns for High‐Precision Eye Tracking

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a passive contact lens for high‐precision eye tracking, integrating a microscopic moiré grating label. The parallax‐induced shift of macroscopic moiré patterns enables angle measurement with 0.28° precision using a standard camera under ambient light.
