Texture of IF steel after equal channel angular pressing (ECAP)

open access: yesActa Materialia, 2005
Abstract Based on experimentally measured textures of interstitial free steel, this paper shows how the textures after equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) via routes A and C, up to 4 passes, can easily be understood by means of a rotation field for simple shear.

Consolidation of Al particles through forward extrusion-equal channel angular pressing (FE-ECAP)

open access: yesMaterials Letters, 2008
In the present study, aluminum particles are consolidated successfully by forward extrusion-equal channel angular pressing, referred as FE-ECAP process, at 200 degrees C.

Optimization of strength and ductility of 2024 Al by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) and post-ECAP aging

Scripta Materialia, 2003
Abstract Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) in the solid solution state with post-ECAP low-temperature aging treatment was found to be quite effective in enhancing the mechanical properties of 2024 Al alloy. Yield stress (YS) as high as 630 MPa could be achieved. Moreover, the ductility of ECAPed alloy was improved after the aging treatment.

Effect of Equal-Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) on Creep in Aluminium Alloys

Materials Science Forum, 2007
This paper examines the effect of equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) on creep behaviour of pure aluminium, binary Al-0.2wt.%Sc alloy and ternary Al-3wt.%Mg-0.2wt.%Sc alloy. The ECAP was conducted at room temperature with a die that had a 90° angle between the channels and 8 repetitive ECAP passes followed route BC.

Scaling up of Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) for the Production of Forging Stock

Materials Science Forum, 2006
Over the past two decades equal channel angular processing (ECAP) and other severe plastic deformation (SPD) processes have been shown, in the laboratory scale, to produce material with promising properties for industrial applications. In particular, ultrafine grain (UFG) metals produced by ECAP process, for example, have been shown to exhibit higher ...

Optimization of the Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) Process for Strain Homogeneity

Materials Science Forum, 2007
Two-Dimensional finite element analysis was carried out to optimize the equal channel angular pressing process (ECAP) for strain homogeneity under frictionless and frictional conditions. The effect of outside corner angle (Ψ), inner radius (r) and shear friction (m) on the strain homogeneity was investigated.

A comparison of FEM and upper-bound type analysis of equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP)

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2003
Abstract In this paper the pressures needed for non-friction equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) of perfectly plastic or strain-hardening materials are analysed using analytical approximations (upper-bound type) and numerical (finite-elements) methods.

Processing of Copper by Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) – Microstructure Investigations

Key Engineering Materials, 2015
The present study attempts to apply Equal-Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) to 99.99% pure copper. ECAP process was realized at room temperature for 4, 8 and 16 passes through route BC using a die having angle of 90°. The microstructure of the samples was investigated by means both light and transmission electron microscopy.
