Practical Method for Estimating Vehicular Impact Force on Reinforced Concrete Parapets for Bridge Infrastructure Design and Management

open access: yesInfrastructures
The AASHTO Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) replaced the NCHRP Report 350 in 2009, becoming the new standard for evaluating safety hardware devices, including concrete bridge parapets; all new permanent installations of bridge rails on the ...

Mathematical and computer simulation of nonlinear free vibrations of elastic shallow shells with step-variable thickness [PDF]

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2010
Shells as building elements are widely used in various fields of engineering. For example, in industrial and civil construction they are used as roofs and ceilings for structures with large spans (circuses, markets, railway stations, warehouses and ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Dynamical analysis of a 2-degrees of freedom spatial pendulum

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
A spatial pendulum with the vertical immobile axis and horizontal mobile axis is studied and the differential equations of motion are obtained applying the method of Lagrange equations. The equations of motion were obtained for the general case; the only

Theory of the interaction of flat sensing organ with the head of the sugar beet root

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering, 2017
Sugar beet leaves now are very widely used for livestock feeding, as an organic fertiliser, and also as a raw material for the production of biogas. Therefore the harvest of the sugar beet tops (including leaves) can be considered as current task for the

Malformin A1–mediated cytotoxicity in ovarian cancer cells occurs through pyroptosis and autophagy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated the effects of the natural compound Malformin A1 (MA1) on the cytoskeleton that regulates cell proliferation and migration. Disruption of the cytoskeleton can impair these processes and promote cancer cell death. MA1 disrupted cytoskeletal organization, induced DNA damage, inflammation, activated autophagy, and pyroptosis ...

Optimizing photoexcitation conditions for time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering experiments

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) is a powerful technique to visualize how proteins change their structure in real time after light activation. Selecting the right laser photoexcitation conditions—fluence, excitation geometry, and sample refresh rate—is critical to maximize the experimental signal while avoiding unwanted side effects ...

Timelike and null equatorial geodesics in the Bonnor-Sackfield relativistic disk

open access: yesRevista Integración, 2011
A study of timelike and null equatorial geodesics in the BonnorSackfield relativistic thin disk is presented. The motion of test particles in the equatorial plane is analyzed, both for the newtonian thin disk model as for the corresponding ...

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.
