Active control of equilibrium, near-equilibrium, and far-from-equilibrium colloidal systems

Soft Matter, 2023
We summarize recent progress in the development of top-down control over bottom-up colloidal processes using a taxonomy based on how active control is used to guide equilibrium, near-equilibrium, and far-from-equilibrium assembly.

Control by Equilibrium

2021 IEEE 16th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2021
This article considers a new approach to solution of the optimal control problem. Firstly, a stabilization system is synthesized for a control object. As a result, the control object has a stable of equilibrium point in the state space. A location of the equilibrium point depends on some vector of parameters in stabilization system. Secondly the vector

EQUILIBRIUM NETWORK CONTROL SYSTEM DESIGN

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1987
Abstract The paper starts by describing the state of art about the problems related to the computation of control system parameters and equilibrium flows for an urban traffic network. Then a procedure to approach this general problem is proposed. This procedure is built up combining algorithms designed for: i) junction green scheduling, ii) signal ...

Controllability of Nash equilibrium

2016 35th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2016
Controlling complex systems to desired states is a paramount importance in science and engineering. In this paper, we consider a class of control systems based on non-cooperative dynamical games which can give some light on this kind of complex systems. It involves a hierarchal decision making structure: one leader and multiple followers.

Cxcl1 monomer–dimer equilibrium controls neutrophil extravasation

Journal of Leukocyte Biology, 2023
Abstract The chemokine Cxcl1 plays a crucial role in recruiting neutrophils in response to infection. The early events in chemokine-mediated neutrophil extravasation involve a sequence of highly orchestrated steps including rolling, adhesion, arrest, and diapedesis.

Traffic Equilibrium with Responsive Traffic Control

Transportation Science, 1993
This paper presents a theory of traffic equilibrium which involves responsive signal control policies; in this theory drivers' route choices and the control policy's choice of green times are treated in a symmetrical manner. The central theme of the paper is the iterative optimization assignment algorithm.

Voluntary control of postural equilibrium patterns

Behavioural Brain Research, 2003
The ability to voluntarily transit from one whole-body movement to another is based on the multisensory integration of visual, vestibular, and somatosensory information. The role of functional sensory ranges and mechanical constraints on the ability to voluntarily transit between whole-body movements was studied by requiring subjects to switch from a ...

Controlling Attractivity of Friction-Induced Equilibrium Sets

Proceedings of the 44th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2006
The dynamics of mechanical systems with dry friction elements, modeled by set-valued force laws, can be described by differential inclusions. The switching and setvalued nature of the friction force law is responsible for the hybrid character of such models.
