Controls and Goals in Economic Equilibrium

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 1976
This paper generalizes some results of Gale and Debreu related to results of Bohnen-blust and Karlin, commonly used to prove the existence of equilibrium in competitive economies. Applied to economics, these results allow further latitude in the choice of admissible price vectors, and in the conditions defining equilibrium.

Control of chemical equilibrium through optical pumping

Annales de Physique, 1985
Kastler has shown that the equilibrium rate between alkali dimers and atoms can be changed by optical orientation of the unpaired valence electron of the atom. Optical pumping experiments performed in Pisa which prove Kastler considerations are here recalled.

Rent Control and General Equilibrium

Journal of Housing Economics, 1995
Abstract This paper develops a life cycle general equilibrium model of rent control. Households choose between renter and owner profiles based on utility maximization. Owners have a lower user cost of capital, but must save for a downpayment to purchase a house. Rent control results in low-quality housing being built, but no shortage in the number of

Vortex Control by Non-Equilibrium Plasma

52nd Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 2014
Study of a longitudinal plasmoid in swirl flow is very important both for plasma aerodynamics and extra energy release 1-8, 10 . A longitudinal heterogeneous plasmoid structure and its dynamics in the swirl flow were studied in our previous works in detail 1-6 . The present work is a continuation of the previous ones.

Mucus Hydration: A Donnan Equilibrium Controlled Process

1982
Cervical mucus of certain mammalian species changes from a thick rubbery gel, impenetrable by sperm (at the luteal phase of the sexual cycle) to a watery gel, easily penetrable by sperm (around the time of ovulation). These variations in the physical properties of mucus serve an important function in fertility regulation.

Equilibrium Considerations in Catalytic Emission Control

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1973
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Many methods of altering the composition of internal combustion engine exhaust gases have been considered for reducing automotive air pollution. By providing a low-energy reaction path, catalysis may be the most effective method of reducing automotive air pollution.

Free work and control of equilibrium configurations

ANNALI DELL UNIVERSITA DI FERRARA, 2003
Summary: Let \(C_*\) be an equilibrium configuration of a thermo-visco-elastic material. The paper aims to reach three objectives; i) control of perturbations to \(C_*\) in terms of the data, if forces are conservatives, and \(C_*\) is a local proper minimum for the total energy \(\mathcal E\); ii) asymptotic decay to zero of perturbations to \(C_ ...
