Equilibrium moisture content of foodstuffs

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1967
Experimental data obtained for the equilibrium moisture content of 11 materials by the dynamic method provide a basis for an analysis of the hygroscopic properties of foodstuffs. Equations of the Sorption and desorption isotherms are given.

Equilibrium moisture content and heat of desorption of saffron

International Journal of Food Science and Technology, 2010
SummaryThe equilibrium moisture contents of saffron (Crocus sativus L.) stigmas were determined experimentally using the standard gravimetric method at temperatures 30, 45 and 60 °C and water activity ranging from 11% to 83%. The sorption isotherm curves of saffron were sigmoidal in shape and decreased with increased temperature at constant relative ...

Equilibrium Moisture Content of Tea

Journal of Agricultural Engineering Research, 1999
A method of measuring equilibrium moisture content relations for tea was investigated at temperatures from ambient up to 90°C used in drying. The method used a high-temperature chilled mirror dewpoint meter with the sample in a sealed chamber in a temperature-controlled oven.

Equilibrium Moisture Content of Clay Bricks

Key Engineering Materials, 2004
The equilibrium moisture content (MEq) of ordinary and lightweight clay bricks was measured and the correlation with the microstructure and pore morphology was investigated. The influence of the pore specific surface on the amount of moisture absorbed at equilibrium conditions, in correspondence of different relative humidity rates, was found to be ...

Pharmaceutical Applications of the Concept of Equilibrium Moisture Contents

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1963
Equilibrium moisture content (EMC) data have been obtained for two representative tablet granulations. These data are useful in analysis of drying operations and particularly in predicting final moisture contents obtainable in "dried" products. The effects of drying variables, such as relative humidity and inlet air temperature, on product moisture ...

EFFECTS OF VARIETY AND HARVEST MOISTURE CONTENT ON EQUILIBRIUM MOISTURE CONTENTS OF RICE

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 2000
Equilibrium moisture contents (EMC) of two long-grain rice varieties (Kaybonnet and Cypress) and one medium-grain variety (Bengal) were measured at temperatures of 4, 21, and 38°C with relative humidities (RHs) ranging from 11 to 96%. In addition to temperature and RH, variety was a significant factor affecting rice EMC.

Equilibrium Moisture Content of Triticale Seed

2013 Kansas City, Missouri, July 21 - July 24, 2013, 2013
Abstract. Triticale is being studied as a substitute for corn in animal feed and as a forage crop for Florida. Storage of triticale seed is difficult in Florida’s climate, and more information about equilibrium moisture content (EMC) relationships of triticale is needed to develop improved storage methods.

Equilibrium Moisture Content of Pharmaceutical Excipients

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1982
AbstractThe equilibrium moisture content (EMC) was determined for thirty pharmaceutical excipients. These data are to be included in the forth-coming publication of the Handbook of Pharmaceutical Excipients. This work was undertaken as a collaborative effort under the sponsorship of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

CORRELATIONS FOR THE EQUILIBRIUM MOISTURE CONTENT OF SOI.IDS

Drying Technology, 1993
ABSTRACT Water adsorption and desorption isotherms at various temperatures have been generated for a variety of particulate materials (ion exchange resin, silica gel, wheat and cellulose materials). Most of thc data were obraincd with the SPS Equilibrium Moisture Content rig, using a dynamic equilibration method.
