Does Quantum Mechanics Clash with the Equivalence Principle – and Does it Matter? [PDF]
With an eye on developing a quantum theory of gravity, many physicists have recently searched for quantum challenges to the equivalence principle of general relativity.

Thermal shock is one of the main causes for the fracture of ceramic materials due to their inherent brittleness. Aiming to explore the mechanism of thermal shock cracking behavior of ceramics under different thermal shock conditions, a novel temperature ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Syntaxe et paradigme(s) : outre les relations de dépendance, les relations d’équivalence
This article intends to examine, in the theoretical framework of functional linguistics, syntactic ‘equivalence’ relationships, as opposed to the far more described syntactic dependency relationships, in the light of paradigmatic piles as defined in the ...

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

An equivalence criterian for 3-manifolds
Through dual subdivision a triangulated 3-manifold is represented by a 4-colored graph. In this paper, the homeomorphism problem for 3-manifolds is translated into an equivalence problem for 4-colored graphs. The equivalence relation is generated by a finite set of ``graph-moves''.

Confounding Equivalence in Causal Inference
The paper provides a simple test for deciding, from a given causal diagram, whether two sets of variables have the same bias-reducing potential under adjustment.

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Equivalence relations as an analysis criterion of scientific relevance of analytical categories
The aim of this paper is to propose equivalence relations as a structural criterion or analytical order, through which the functions of knowledge required in a scientific activity are delimited.
