Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Data-driven and physics-constrained acoustic holography based on optimizer unrolling

open access: yesActa Acustica
Nearfield Acoustic Holography (NAH) retrieves vibro-acoustic patterns of sound sources from non-contact measurements of sound in their proximity. NAH obtains images of structural vibrations to analyze the underlying acoustic phenomena.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Improved equivalent source method to predict sound scattered by solid surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes
The equivalent source method is an efficient numerical method to predict sound scattered by solid surfaces. Compared with the conventional boundary element method, the equivalent source method has inherent advantages in avoiding the problems of ...

Source localization in reverberation environment based on improved equivalent sound source near-field acoustic holography algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The compressive-equivalent source method near-field acoustic holography (C-ESM) is disturbed by reverberation in the enclosed space such as room and cabin, which leads to large reconstruction error and disturbs the judgment of sound source position.

DIPOLAR-BASED EQUIVALENT SOURCES METHOD FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL AEROACOUSTIC SOURCE IDENTIFICATION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
International audienceIn accordance with aeroacoustic analogies, the noise arising from the interaction of an object and a low Mach number flow is likely to be accurately described by the radiation of elementary monopoles, dipoles and quadrupoles ...

Reactive Power Control Method for Enhancing the Transient Stability Total Transfer Capability of Transmission Lines for a System with Large-Scale Renewable Energy Sources

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
With the increased proportion of intermittent renewable energy sources (RES) integrated into the sending-end, the total transfer capability of transmission lines is not sufficient during the peak periods of renewable primary energy (e.g., the wind force),

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Gamma scanning technique based on equivalent plane source method in large container

open access: yesHe jishu
BackgroundLarge-volume container waste generated from nuclear facility decommissioning exhibits extremely inhomogeneous nuclide distribution. Its activity measured using the traditional tomographic gamma scanning (TGS) technique shows errors of up to six
