Equivalent Conversion Calculation of Straight Bevel Gear Mesh Stiffness

2009 Fifth International Conference on Natural Computation, 2009
Based on analyzing the defects of the usual equivalent conversion methods, the paper presents a new equivalent conversion method for mesh stiffness calculation of straight bevel gears of the small teeth number and diameter. By means of comparison among the different calculation methods, the conclusions can be obtained as follow: The straight bevel gear’

Equivalent stiffness method for nonlinear analysis of stay cables

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2011
In the famous equivalent elasticity modulus method proposed by Ernst for the geometrical nonlinear analysis of stay cables, the cable shape was assumed as a parabolic curve, and only a part of the gravity load normal to the chord was taken into account with the other part of gravity load parallel to the chord being ignored.

Equivalent Stiffness and Damping Investigation of a Hydrostatic Journal Bearing

Tribology Transactions, 2007
The aim of this research is to study the dynamic characteristics of a hydrostatic journal bearing, with four hydrostatic bearing flat pads fed by diaphragm restrictors and supporting a rotor. We assumed that the fluid flow is incompressible, laminar, isothermal, and steady-state.

Equivalent damping of aeroelastic system of an airfoil with cubic stiffness

Journal of Fluids and Structures, 2011
Abstract This paper presents a mathematical study on the subsonic aerodynamics acting on an airfoil with a cubic stiffness. One portion of aerodynamics is assumed as and replaced by an equivalent damping. Using the harmonic balance method, an equivalent system is deduced and studied by a numerical integration method.

Effective Stiffness and Equivalent Damping of Base‐Isolated Bridges

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1993
In this paper, the guide specifications for bridge base isolation published in 1991 by the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) are briefly summarized and discussed. The effective stiffness and equivalent damping ratio given in the AASHTO isolation specifications are evaluated.

Research on Equivalent Bending Stiffness of Conical Inflated Beam

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
The conical inflated beams have steady bending stiffness before wrinkles appear according to experimental load-deflection curve, then the deflection distribute function is derived based on the differential function of deflection with variable bending stiffness.
