Laser‐Induced Ultrafast Magnetic Phase Transition in 2D Van Der Waals Antiferromagnetic Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, ultrafast laser‐induced spin transfer and spin relaxation dynamics in 2D van der Waals antiferromagnetic CrI3/CrGeTe3 heterostructures are investigated. Laser excitation is demonstrated to induce pronounced interlayer nonequilibrium spin dynamics and ultrafast magnetic moment reconstruction, driving a transition from an antiferromagnetic (

Adult Sex Ratio as a Demographic Feedback Linking Mating Systems, Parental Care, and Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breeding systems are some of the most diverse social behavior, and our team is investigation the evolutionary causes of this diversity. This review summarises our research carried out at the University of Bath. We argue that demographic components of wild populations, especially the adult sex ratio, plays a key role driving breeding system variation ...

Subcellular localization of ERα and H1R in vl VMN neurons.

open access: yes, 2014
(A, B, C, D, E) Representative images of dual immunofluorescence labeling of ERα (green) and H1R (red), obtained by confocal microscopy. Higher magnification images of individual cells in panel A are shown in B (area with a dotted line), and C, D and E ...

RNAi in the Rhizarian Phytopathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae: The Causal Agent of Clubroot Disease in Cruciferous Crops

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers an unusual RNAi pathway in the rhizarian pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae. In the absence of Dicer, a Drosha‐like RNase III protein supports the biogenesis of predominant 21‐nt small RNAs, and two Argonaute proteins mediate small RNA‐guided silencing.

Reduction of TLR4 mRNA stability and protein expressions through inhibiting cytoplasmic translocation of HuR transcription factor by E2 and/or ERα in LPS-treated H9c2 cardiomyoblast cells

open access: yes, 2014
[[abstract]]Our previous results have indicated that Akt mediates 17β-estradiol (E2) and/or estrogen receptor α (ERα) to inhibit lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced JNK activity, tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) protein expression, and exhibits ...

Ethical Precision in Nanoscale Brain Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As brain interfaces approach the nanoscale, precision no longer only measures—it knows, predicts, and potentially reshapes the mind. This work argues that traditional ethics fails under such conditions and proposes a shift toward continuous, operation‐based governance using the recovery–discovery framework to track, constrain, and responsibly steer ...

Loss function of tumor suppressor FRMD8 confers resistance to tamoxifen therapy via a dual mechanism

open access: yeseLife
Approximately 40% ERα-positive breast cancer patients suffer from therapeutic resistance to tamoxifen. Although reduced ERα level is the major cause of tamoxifen resistance, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive.

Reactivation of estrogen receptor-α (ERα) by bioactive dietary compounds through epigenetic mechanisms in ERα-negative breast cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In breast cancer treatment, the presence of the estrogen receptor-alpha (ERα) plays an important role with hormonal-responsive drugs such as tamoxifen.

Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.
