A Joint Model Of X-ray And Infrared Backgrounds. II. Compton-Thick AGN Abundance
We estimate the abundance of Compton-thick (CT) active galactic nuclei (AGN) based on our joint model of X-ray and infrared backgrounds. At L_{rest 2-10 keV} > 10^42 erg/s, the CT AGN density predicted by our model is a few 10^-4 Mpc^-3 from z=0 up to z ...

Spreading pressures of water and n-propanol on polymer surfaces [PDF]
Spreading pressures of water and n-propanol on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polystyrene (PS), polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC), and glass are determined from ellipsometrically measured adsorption isotherms by graphical integration ...

Grain Size and Shape of Sand Grains in Ergs of Iran [PDF]
Large areas of Iran are under the influence of wind erosion thus it is important that we recognize three zones ofremoval, transportation and deposition. The deposition zone is very important due to more damages and tangibleeffects.

Recent observations have revealed an amazing diversity of extremely luminous supernovae, seemingly increasing in radiant energy without bound. We consider here the physical limits of what existing models can provide for the peak luminosity and total ...

Swift monitoring of the massive X-ray binary SAX J0635.2+0533 [PDF]
SAX J0635.2+0533 is a binary pulsar with a very short pulsation period ($P$ = 33.8 ms) and a high long-term spin down ($\dot P$ $>$ 3.8$\times10^{-13}$ s s$^{-1}$), which suggests a rotation-powered (instead of an accretion-powered) nature for this ...

Interaction in VR involves large body movements, easily inducing fatigue and discomfort. We propose Erg-O, a manipulation technique that leverages visual dominance to maintain the visual location of the elements in VR, while making them accessible from more comfortable locations.

A Thirty-Four Billion Solar Mass Black Hole in SMSS J2157-3602, the Most Luminous Known Quasar [PDF]
From near-infrared spectroscopic measurements of the MgII emission line doublet, we estimate the black hole (BH) mass of the quasar, SMSS J215728.21-360215.1, as being (3.4 +/- 0.6) x 10^10 M_sun and refine the redshift of the quasar to be z=4.692.
