Varroa destructor mites exposed to dsRNA specific in sequence to a V. destructor calmodulin gene significantly effected gene expression of adult female mites sampled 5 days after entering a honey bee brood cell to reproduce. Significantly down‐regulated genes included Calmodulin and were associated with calcium ion binding and embryo developmental ...

Molecular Typing Isolates of Salmonella Enterica Serovar Infantis Using Eric-PCR Method
Background: Salmonella is the important bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family that are very diverse biochemically and serologically, and mainly transmitted through food. The spread of non-typhoid Salmonella is one of the challenging issues in current research.

Alfalfa‐based silage pellets (ABSP) showed significant results regarding production performance, yolk colour and ω‐3 (PUFAs), as well as the ratio ω‐6/ω‐3 (p < 0.05). The ABSP group also exhibited a higher abundance of beneficial bacteria and a lower abundance of pathogenic bacteria compared to the control group (p < 0.05).

Cohorts of immature Pteropus bats show interannual variation in Hendra virus serology
Pteropus bat with offspring, photo taken by Manuel Ruiz‐Aravena. Abstract Understanding the drivers of seasonal disease outbreaks remains a fundamental challenge in disease ecology. Periodic outbreaks can be driven by several seasonally varying factors, including pulses of susceptible individuals through births, changes in host behaviour and social ...

Summary Small nucleolar ribonucleic acids (snoRNAs) are a class of small non‐coding RNAs involved in the post‐transcriptional modification of ribosomal RNAs (rRNA) and small nuclear RNAs (snRNA). Mounting evidence indicates that specific snoRNAs are drivers of oncogenesis, but their role in B‐cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (BCP‐ALL) is ...

Τυποπoίηση στελεχών Brucella melitensis με την χρήση της τεχνικής ERIC-PCR
Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease with reports of its possible existence from 1,600 BC. in ancient Egypt. The cause of brucellosis is the genus Brucella spp. a Gram-negative small bacterium, which infects domestic and wild animals and from there is transmitted to humans, with the main route of transmission being the consumption of unpasteurized milk ...

Heritable Genetic Effects Caused by a Single Generation of Captive Breeding
ABSTRACT Understanding the genetic effects of captive breeding is critical for successful fisheries management and conservation efforts. Recent work has demonstrated that genetic adaptation to captivity, with resulting loss of fitness in the wild environment, can occur in as little as a single generation.
