ON EROSION PROCESS OF COHESIVE SEDIMENT AND EROSION RATE FORMULA

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 2003
Erosion process of soft cohesive material which deposited naturally on a river bed is the objective of the present paper. Extensive series of experiments, the condition of which were set systematically, were conducted to evaluate the erosion rate by running water in a closed conduit. The test sample was the mixture of silica sand. clay and water.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

W-CMP for sub-micron inverse metallisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) of tungsten for an inverse metallisation scheme is investigated. The influence of CMP parameters on removal rate and uniformity is studied. The main effects on the removal rate are the applied pressure and the rotation

Baseline Regional Cholinergic Denervation Predicts Cognitive Trajectories in Moderate Parkinson Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive decline is a disabling and variable feature of Parkinson disease (PD). While cholinergic system degeneration is linked to cognitive impairments in PD, most prior research reported cross‐sectional associations. We aimed to fill this gap by investigating whether baseline regional cerebral vesicular acetylcholine transporter ...

Identifying the optimal process parameters to minimize the solid particle erosion rate of heat-treated Ti–6Al–5Zr–0.5Mo–0.2Si alloy using response surface methodology

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
This study examines the high-temperature solid particle erosion (HTSPE) characteristics of the heat-treated Ti–6Al–5Zr–0.5Mo–0.2Si titanium alloy, which is widely used in aerospace applications due to its superior thermal stability and excellent ...

A Scoping Review on Artificial Intelligence–Supported Interventions for Nonpharmacologic Management of Chronic Rheumatic Diseases

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
This review summarizes artificial intelligence (AI)‐supported nonpharmacological interventions for adults with chronic rheumatic diseases, detailing their components, purpose, and current evidence base. We searched Embase, PubMed, Cochrane, and Scopus databases for studies describing AI‐supported interventions for adults with chronic rheumatic diseases.

Spatial Modelling of Sediment Transport over the Upper Citarum Catchment [PDF]

open access: yesITB Journal of Engineering Science, 2006
This paper discusses set up of a spatial model applied in Geographic Information System (GIS) environment for predicting annual erosion rate and sediment yield of a watershed. The study area is situated in the Upper Citarum Catchment of West Java. Annual

Impact of Positive Lifestyle Behaviors on Direct Health Care Cost Savings for Low Back Pain

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to investigate the relationship between a previously purpose‐developed lifestyle behavior scale and health care cost savings related to low back pain (LBP). Methods This longitudinal study used data from the Australian Twin Back (AUTBACK) study. LBP and lifestyle behavior measures were collected at baseline. Physical activity

A late Holocene onset of Aboriginal burning in southeastern Australia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The extent to which Aboriginal Australians used fire to modify their environment has been debated for decades and is generally based on charcoal and pollen records rather than landscape responses to land-use change. Here we investigate the sensitivity of

Diffusion‐Weighted Imaging for the Evaluation of the Sacroiliac Joint in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Maturational signal in the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) of skeletally immature youth is often misinterpreted as inflammation. Diagnostic tools that improve specificity are greatly needed. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values from diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI), when used with standard imaging, may enhance diagnostic accuracy.
