Collision detection in IEEE 802.11 networks by error vector magnitude analysis

2012 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2012
There are two causes of packet losses during a wireless transmission: losses caused by collisions and losses caused by poor channel conditions. The throughput and spatial reuse of IEEE 802.11 based wireless networks, as well as the effectiveness of the rate adaptation algorithms they use, is adversely affected by their inability to determine the real ...

Error Vector Magnitude as a Performance Measure for Advanced Modulation Formats

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2012
We examine the relation between optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR), error vector magnitude (EVM), and bit-error ratio (BER). Theoretical results and numerical simulations are compared to measured values of OSNR, EVM, and BER. We conclude that the EVM is an appropriate metric for optical channels limited by additive white Gaussian noise.

Validation of Vector Magnitude Datasets: Effects of Random Component Errors

Journal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 1997
Abstract A statistically consistent and physically realistic approach for validating vector magnitude measurements is developed, based on a model for random measurement noise that explicitly satisfies a nonnegativity constraint for all “noisy” vector magnitude measurements.

Error Vector Magnitude (EVM)-Based Constellation Combiner for Cooperative Relay Network

IEEE Communications Letters, 2016
This letter proposes a novel diversity combining technique based on error vector magnitude (EVM) for a cooperative relay network. EVM is the vector difference for a given time between the transmitted signal and the received signal. At the destination, the proposed combiner combines the minimum EVM constellations obtained from the received links ...

Error vector magnitude of OFDM signals caused by sampling clock jitter

Proceedings. 2004 IEEE Radio and Wireless Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04TH8746), 2005
In the next-generation mobile communication system where the signal bandwidth is very broad, the sampling frequency of a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in a transceiver becomes high. So the signal quality is sensitive to the jitter of the sampling clock. The relation between the error vector magnitude and the

A novel measurement of error vector magnitude for TD-LTE termination

2012 5th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, 2012
With the appearance of Time Division-Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) standard in succession, investigation and measurement of TD-LTE termination performance has been a distinctive bottleneck in the process of its development. So it is a great practical significance to research of TD-LTE termination testing instrument with integrated testing function of RF,

Performance enhancement of a WCDMA/HSDPA+ receiver via minimizing error vector magnitude

2013 IEEE International Test Conference (ITC), 2013
SNR enhancement of a 6-band WCDMA/ HSDPA+ directconversion transceiver supporting 21 Mbps High Speed Downlink Packet Access Evolved (HSDPA+) in a single CMOS die is evaluated in this paper. The paper mainly focuses on enhancing SNR performance of a WCDMA/HSDPA+ receiver by minimizing the error vector magnitude (EVM) with the digital compensations of ...

Spectrum monitoring in cognitive radio networks using error vector magnitude.

2018
The proliferation of new operators, innovative services and wireless technologies has caused radio spectrum resources to become scarce. This scarcity has led to the concept of cognitive radio (CR) communication. Spectrum sensing is a critical component of CR networks for spectrum utilization.
