Influence of GABA(A) receptor α subunit isoforms on the benzodiazepine binding site. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Classical benzodiazepines, such as diazepam, interact with α(x)β(2)γ(2) GABA(A) receptors, x = 1, 2, 3, 5 and modulate their function. Modulation of different receptor isoforms probably results in selective behavioural effects as sedation and anxiolysis.

A search for the ideal flavor of strawberry - Comparison of consumer acceptance and metabolite patterns in Fragaria × ananassa Duch.

open access: yesJournal of Applied Botany and Food Quality, 2016
in strawberry. Despite numerous investigations of the metabolic composition of strawberries, the description of the relationship between flavor pattern and consumer acceptance is inconsistent. The aim of the present study was to correlate overall liking (

Mapping of the Waxy Bloom Gene in ‘Black Jewel’ in a Parental Linkage Map of ‘Black Jewel’ × ‘Glen Ample’ (Rubus) Interspecific Population

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
Black and red raspberries (Rubus occidentalis L. and Rubus idaeus L.) are the prominent members of the genus Rubus (Rosaceae family). Breeding programs coupled with the low costs of high-throughput sequencing have led to a reservoir of data that have ...

Diversity of volatile patterns in sixteen Fragaria vesca L. accessions in comparison to cultivars of Fragaria ×ananassa

open access: yesJournal of Applied Botany and Food Quality, 2013
Fragaria vesca is the most distributed wild species in the genus Fragaria. Due to this biogeography a high diversity is to expect. During two harvest seasons sixteen accessions from different locations from the most eastern habitat at Lake Baikal in ...

Towards a global understanding of tree mortality

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 245, Issue 6, Page 2377-2392, March 2025.
Summary Rates of tree mortality are increasing globally, with implications for forests and climate. Yet, how and why these trends vary globally remain unknown. Developing a comprehensive assessment of global tree mortality will require systematically integrating data from ground‐based long‐term forest monitoring with large‐scale remote sensing.

Effect of irrigation time on reproductive parameters of apple

open access: yesРастениевъдни науки, 2015
The investigation was carried during the period 2008-2010 at the Institute of Agriculture – Kyustendil, Bulgaria with apple cultivars Prima, Florina and Erwin Baur grafted on clonal rootstock MM 106. The trees grown in Chromic Luvisols and planted at 4.

Painted flowers: Eluta generates pigment patterning in Antirrhinum

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 243, Issue 2, Page 738-752, July 2024.
Summary In the early 1900s, Erwin Baur established Antirrhinum majus as a model system, identifying and characterising numerous flower colour variants. This included Picturatum/Eluta, which restricts the accumulation of magenta anthocyanin pigments, forming bullseye markings on the flower face.

Drought increases Norway spruce susceptibility to the Eurasian spruce bark beetle and its associated fungi

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 242, Issue 3, Page 1000-1017, May 2024.
Summary Drought affects the complex interactions between Norway spruce, the bark beetle Ips typographus and associated microorganisms. We investigated the interplay of tree water status, defense and carbohydrate reserves with the incidence of bark beetle attack and infection of associated fungi in mature spruce trees.
