Erythrina—Chemical and Pharmacological Evaluation II: Alkaloids of Erythrina variegata L

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1972
Eight spiroamine alkaloids (I-VIII) and three carboxylated indole-3-alkylamines (IX-XI) were isolated from the various parts of Erythrina variegata, and their identity was established by chemical and spectral (UV, IR, NMR, and mass) methods. Of the eight spiroamine bases isolated, three (I, VI, and VII) were previously unreported in nature, while ...

A new Erythrina alkaloid from Erythrina herbacea

Journal of Natural Medicines, 2008
A new Erythrina alkaloid, 10-hydroxy-11-oxoerysotrine (1), has been isolated from the flowers of Erythrina herbacea together with five known compounds: erytharbine (2), 10,11-dioxoerysotrine (3), erythrartine (4), erysotramidine (5) and erysotrine-N-oxide (6). The structure of the new compound was elucidated on the basis of its spectral data, including

Biosynthesis of Erythrina alkaloids in Erythrina crista-galli

Phytochemistry, 1999
A precursor application system was developed to allow the study of Erythrina alkaloid formation in Erythrina crista-galli. Fruit wall tissue of this species was recognized as the major site of alkaloid biosynthesis. The application of radioactively and 13C-labelled potential precursors showed that the hitherto assumed precursor (S)-norprotosinomenine ...

Erythrina alkaloids from leaves of Erythrina arborescens

Tetrahedron, 2019
Continued interest in Erythrina alkaloids resulted in the isolation of 38 alkaloids including 7 undescribed ones from the leaves of Erythrina arborescens Roxburgh. Among the new compounds, erythrivarines H-I were two dimeric alkaloids, while others were Erythrina alkaloid glucosides.

Quadrastichus erythrinae (Erythrina gall wasp).

2021
Abstract Unusual growths, caused by Erythrina gall wasp (Quadrastichus erythrinae), on leaves and young shoots of coral trees (Erythrina spp). alerts to the presence of this emerging invasive species. Quadrastichus erythrinae measures a mere 1.5 mm and may be spread easily via infected leaves from infected Erythrina specimens.
