Mechanism of erythrocyte aggregation and sedimentation [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1987
Abstract Unstirred suspensions of erythrocytes form stable spherical aggregates of uniform size. The radius of the spheres depends upon the suspending medium and the hematocrit. Erythrocyte suspensions will undergo sedimentation only after these aggregates are formed.

Discovery of bioactive compounds in the Chinese herbal formula NaoShuanTong Capsule (NSTC) against hemorheological disorders

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2018
NaoShuanTong capsule (NSTC) has been commonly used to treat blood circulation disorders and neurological dysfunction against cerebral ischemia in China. In this study, using an acute blood stasis rat model, canonical correlation analysis between chemical

Microcirculatory injuries of patients with chronic generalized periodontitis and their correction with EHF-therapy

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2003
The aim is the study of EHF-therapy (extremely high frequency therapy) potential for the correction of microcirculatory injuries of patients with chronic generalized periodontitis in postsurgery period: in blood rheological properties and hemostasis ...

An optofluidic point-of-care device for quantitative investigation of erythrocyte aggregation during coagulation

open access: yesSensors and Actuators A-Physical, 2018
Coagulation, the process leading to clot formation with the interplay of blood constituents, is a self-regulating mechanism, requiring attentive and periodic monitoring for numerous clinical cases.

Descriptive parameters of the erythrocyte aggregation phenomenon using a laser transmission optical chip

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 2017
. The study of red blood cell (RBC) aggregation is of great interest because of its implications for human health. Altered RBC aggregation can lead to microcirculatory problems as in vascular pathologies, such as hypertension and diabetes, due to a ...

Erythrocyte aggregation in relation to diabetic retinopathy [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetologia, 1972
Erythrocyte aggregation, plasma fibrinogen concentrations and serum protein fractions have been studied in 19 diabetic patients without retinopathy, 18 patients with retinopathy and 41 non-diabetic controls. — Significant differences in the parameters were observed between diabetics and controls.

Effects of Histidine-rich glycoprotein on erythrocyte aggregation and hemolysis: Implications for a role under septic conditions.

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2017
The apoptotic process of erythrocytes is known as eryptosis, and is characterized by phosphatidylserine (PS) expression on the outer membrane. PS-positive erythrocytes are increased in sepsis, and PS is believed to facilitate coagulation of erythrocytes ...

Role of Plasma Membrane at Dielectric Relaxations and Intermembrane Interaction in Human Erythrocytes

open access: yesMembranes, 2023
Dielectric relaxations at 1.4 MHz (βsp) and 9 MHz (γ1sp) on the erythrocyte spectrin network were studied by dielectric spectroscopy using dense suspensions of erythrocytes and erythrocyte ghost membranes, subjected to extraction with up to 0.2% volume ...

Morphology of depletant-induced erythrocyte aggregates [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2018
Red blood cells suspended in quiescent plasma tend to aggregate into multicellular assemblages, including linearly stacked columnar rouleaux, which can reversibly form more complex clusters or branching networks.
