Effect of desmopressin on erythrocyte aggregation
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2008Experiments on rats showed that desmopressin in doses recommended for single injections to humans increased erythrocyte aggregation. A close correlation between erythrocyte aggregation index and blood viscosity, on the one hand, and plasma content of acid glycosaminoglycans on the other was detected.

Erythrocyte aggregation and metabolic syndrome
Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, 2014Erythrocyte aggregation has been consistently associated with insulin resistance, central obesity and hypertension in the literature. Oxidative stress and chronic inflammation are almost always present in metabolic syndrome (MetS). Prooxidants and adipocytokines generated in MetS alter erythrocyte morphology, decrease erythrocyte deformability and ...

Methodological Aspects of Erythrocyte Aggregation
Recent Patents on Anti-Cancer Drug Discovery, 2007The aim of this paper is to analyze merits and demerits of methodological approaches designed for investigations of erythrocyte aggregation--a process, which plays a crucial role in rheological and transport properties of blood. Ideally, erythrocyte aggregation should be characterized in terms of the time-dependent gyration radius of the aggregates and

The influence of erythrocyte aggregation on induced platelet aggregation
Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, 2010Red blood cells (RBCs) affect platelet aggregation in flowing blood (primary hemostasis). We tested the hypothesis that RBC aggregation could influence platelet aggregation. RBC aggregation was altered in vitro by: (i) changing plasma aggregatory properties with 3.7 g% dextran 40 (D40), 3.0 g% dextran 70 (D70) or 1.55 g% dextran 500 (D500);

Blood Viscosity: Influence of Erythrocyte Aggregation [PDF]
The addition of purified canine or bovine fibrinogen to suspensions of canine erythocytes in Ringer solution caused an increase in viscosity and the formation of aggregates of erythocytes. Both of these effects became increasingly pronounced as the fibrinogen concentration was raised, and they approached plateaus with 1 gram of fibrinogen ...

Hematocrit dependence of erythrocyte aggregation
Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, 1988We studied hematocrit, erythrocyte aggregation index and plasma fibrinogen level in 19 healthy subjects. We measured erythrocyte aggregation both on native blood and on washed erythrocytes resuspended in their own autologous plasma or serum. We found a significant negative linear correlation between hematocrit and the erythrocyte aggregation index on ...

The influence of fractions of abnormal erythrocytes on aggregation [PDF]
Abstract. Erythrocytes with abnormal shapes and deformability reduce cell aggregation and hence sedimentation. It is not known what influence small fractions of these abnormal cells have on the sedimentation behaviour of normal cells. We have used three different methods to alter erythrocyte properties (glutaraldehyde, heat treatment, and metabolic ...

Metabolic depletion decreases the aggregability of erythrocytes
Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, 2011We studied the influence of metabolic depletion on red blood cell (RBC) aggregability, which is a determinant of blood flow. Heparinized blood was stored at room temperature for 0, 24, and 48 h. RBCs were washed twice and resuspended in Tris-buffer containing 3% dextran 70 (hematocrit 30%).

Erythrocyte aggregability and AB0 blood groups
Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, 2009It is not established whether there is an association between erythrocyte aggregation and AB0 blood type, as glycophorins carry sialic acid which is responsible for the negative erythrocyte surface charge and the antigenicity for AB0 blood groups. We have determined erythrocyte aggregation by means of the Myrenne aggregometer in 114 healthy volunteers,

Effect of temperature on the velocity of erythrocyte aggregation
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1987The velocity of the aggregation of human erythrocytes was examined in the range of 5-43 degrees C with a rheoscope combined with a video camera, an image analyzer and a computer. (1) With increasing temperature, the velocity of erythrocyte aggregation induced by fibrinogen, immunoglobulin G and artificial macromolecules (dextran of 70 kDa and poly ...
