Valorization of fruit pits from Prunus laurocerasus and Prunus cerasifera as agro‐food byproducts: Bioactive properties and safety assessment for potential food additive applications

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 10, Page 6002-6014, 15 August 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Food additives are widely used to extend the shelf life of foods and maintain their quality. In this study, the potential of Prunus laurocerasus and Prunus cerasifera fruit pits (endocarp and seed) as food additives was investigated in terms of cytotoxicity, antigenotoxicity, antioxidant activity, enzymatic anti‐browning, and urease

Storage‐Induced Changes in Phenolic Profile and Antioxidant Capacity of Functional Blueberry Beverages Enriched With Propolis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Development of functional blueberry beverages enriched with propolis extracts prepared using different solvent systems (water, glycerol–water, and propylene glycol–water). Propolis enrichment and storage conditions influenced the phenolic profile, antioxidant capacity, and physicochemical properties of the beverages during 12 months of storage in glass

Apigenin, Selenium, and Combinations Are Effective in Preventing 5‐Fluorouracil Induced Cardiovascular Damage

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
5‐Fluorouracil (5‐FU) induces cardiovascular toxicity by increasing ROS, MDA, Bax, and caspase‐3 while decreasing antioxidant defenses and Bcl‐2 levels. Apigenin and selenium enhance antioxidant capacity, restore Bcl‐2 expression, suppress apoptosis, and rebalance redox status.

Ameliorative Effects of Silymarin on Ovarian Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury via Modulation of Oxidative Stress and Inflammatory Pathways

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study investigates the protective effects of SLY against experimental ovarian ischemia/reperfusion (OIR) injury. Findings demonstrate that SLY significantly attenuates oxidative stress and inflammatory response by reducing pro‐inflammatory cytokines and lipid peroxidation while preserving histological tissue integrity and enhancing antioxidant ...

Zingerone Alleviates Acetaminophen‐Induced Liver Damage by Regulating Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, Apoptosis, Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress, and Autophagy

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
Mechanism of action of zingerone on acetaminophen‐induced liver damage. ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to investigate the protective effect of zingerone (ZNG), an antioxidant agent, against acetaminophen (APAP)‐induced liver damage, which is used as an analgesic and antipyretic. For this purpose, twenty‐eight male rats were divided into four groups:
