Human T cell responses to peptides of the Mycobacterium leprae 45-kD serine-rich antigen. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In order to identify T cell epitopes within the Mycobacterium leprae 45-kD serine-rich antigen, we analysed responses to overlapping 17-mer peptides encompassing the whole antigen in non-exposed UK controls, Pakistani leprosy patients and tuberculosis ...

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

A novel malaria vaccine candidate antigen expressed in Tetrahymena thermophila [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Development of effective malaria vaccines is hampered by the problem of producing correctly folded Plasmodium proteins for use as vaccine components.

Late-phase expression of a murine cytomegalovirus immediate-early antigen recognized by cytolytic T lymphocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The cloned murine cytolytic T-lymphocyte line IE1-IL and several sublines detect a murine cytomegalovirus immediate-early (IE) membrane determinant in conjunction with Ld class I major histocompatibility glycoprotein.

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Regulation of dendritic cell immune function and maturation by the recombinant antigen p53 of Trichinella spiralis

open access: yesParasites & Vectors
Background The excretory–secretory (ES) antigen of Trichinella spiralis (T. spiralis) has garnered significant attention owing to its notable immunomodulatory activities, particularly its ability to regulate the maturation of dendritic cells (DCs).

Field evaluation of ELISA using Wuchereria bancrofti mf ES antigen for bancroftian filariasis.

open access: yesBulletin of the World Health Organization, 1985
An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using Wuchereria bancrofti microfilarial excretory-secretory antigen was used in field studies to screen blood samples collected on filter-paper from persons residing in areas endemic for bancroftian filariasis. This assay system, when compared with examination of night wet blood smears for microfilariae, gave a ...

Unraveling the epigenetic code in cancer cell–tumor microenvironment crosstalk

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Epigenetic regulation is a key driver of cancer development and progression. Diverse epigenetic alterations in cancer cells and components of the tumor microenvironment (TME) orchestrate their communication through multiple mechanisms. We discuss how the epigenetic code coordinates bidirectional cancer cell–TME crosstalk to promote cancer progression ...

Mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities of the ribotoxic stress response in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer cells' high translational demand creates opportunities to therapeutically target ribosome function. Ribosome stalling and collisions activate ZAKα and the ribotoxic stress response (RSR), which can trigger rapid, p53‐independent apoptosis in cancer.
