Ultrafine Ru‐M Alloy@S Vacancy‐Rich MoS2 Nanosheets With Bimetallic Active Sites for Efficient Hydrogen Evolution in Alkaline and Acidic Media

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
A USMR synthesizes ultrafine RuCo alloy on S‐vacancy‐rich 1T phase MoS2. This method enables rapid precursor mixing, instantaneous reduction, and uniform alloy dispersion while creating S vacancies. The synergy between Ru‐Co sites and defective MoS2 optimizes hydrogen kinetics, achieving a low overpotential of 31 mV@10 mA·cm‐2 in acid, providing a ...

Understanding the Doping Effect and Electrolyte Effect in Electrocatalytic Oxidation of Glycerol With Ligand‐Protected Silver Nanoclusters

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
The well‐defined surface‐doped Ag4M2 and core‐doped Ag24M clusters can selectively electrocatalytically convert glycerol under different KOH concentration electrolytes, in which Pd and Pt doping tune the selectivity and Ni doping changes activity. ABSTRACT The efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of glycerol (GLY) is one of the most promising routes ...

X‐Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy as Useful Technique for the Quantification of Halogen and Chalcogen Bonding Interactions

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 2, February 2026.
Unprecedented application of X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for quantifying halogen and chalcogen bond strengths. This pioneering work provides the first benchmark study and establishes strong correlations between XPS shifts (ΔBE) and interaction energies (ΔE), revealing XPS as an experimental measure for noncovalent bond quantification in ...

Plasma-polymerized coating for polycarbonate: Single-layer, abrasion resistant, and antireflection [PDF]

open access: yes
Plasma-polymerized vinyl trimethoxy silane films were deposited on transparent polycarbonate substrates. The adherent, clear films protected the substrates from abrasion and also served as antireflection coatings.

Surface Modification via Click Chemistry Enhances CO2 Reduction Selectivity between C2+/C1 on Shape‐Controlled Cu2O

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 2, February 2026.
Nearly identical molecular modifications of two differently shaped cuprous oxide via click chemistry lead to a striking divergence in product selectivity in CO2 electrolysis—favoring either methane or C2+ compounds. This contrast reveals dual roles of the organic layer : forming distinct functional sites that act synergistically and disrupting copper ...

Selective Production of Glycolic Acid and Dihydroxyacetone From Glycerol Under Non‐Thermal Plasma in Liquid Phase

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 3, February 2026.
Nonthermal plasma operating in liquid phase at ambient temperature selectively oxidises glycerol into glycolic acid (GcA) and dihydroxyacetone (DHA). At p = 9.6 W and short residence time, 100% selectivity to GcA was achieved with 7% glycerol conversion. After 60 min, conversion reached 35%, with 58% GcA and 36% DHA.

Beyond bacterial defences: the role of lysozyme in cancer

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
Lysozyme (LYZ) is a multi‐functional secreted factor that encompasses both antibacterial and immunomodulatory functions. Emerging evidence highlights its complex role in tumour progression by directly influencing tumour cells and modulating the immune microenvironment.
