Comparison of DeePMD, MTP, GAP, ACE and MACE Machine‐Learned Potentials for Radiation‐Damage Simulations: A User Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
The authors evaluated six machine‐learned interatomic potentials for simulating threshold displacement energies and tritium diffusion in LiAlO2 essential for tritium production. Trained on the same density functional theory data and benchmarked against traditional models for accuracy, stability, displacement energies, and cost, Moment Tensor Potential ...

Particle Swarm Optimization as a Noise‐Tolerant Strategy for High‐Entropy Alloy Research

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A customized particle swarm optimization algorithm is benchmarked against batch Bayesian optimization across four high‐entropy alloy oxygen‐reduction landscapes. While both methods locate the global optimum comparably under noise‐free conditions, Bayesian optimization’s surrogate model tends to overfit noisy data.

Actors and Their Use of Avatars as Personal Mediators: An empirical study of avatar-based sense-makings and communication practices in the virtual worlds of EverQuest and Second Life

open access: yesMedieKultur: Journal of Media and Communication Research, 2009
Over the past five years, millions of actors have found it meaningful to move in and settle down in the Metaverse, for example, as an adventurous shaman in an advanced role-playing game such as EverQuest or as a businesswoman in the social world of ...

Sports Activity Recognition Using Textile‐Based Sensor Fusion and Complex‐Valued Residual Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Motion artifacts in electrocardiographic signals, conventionally dismissed as noise, are shown to encode discriminative activity information. A smart t‐shirt fusing textile strain sensors with textile ECG electrodes, processed through a complex‐valued residual network, recognizes 12 sport activities.

Photoactivated Platinum Complexes: Targeting Membrane Proteins and Organelles for Precision Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This review highlights an emerging anticancer approach integrating platinum agents into photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photoactivated chemotherapy (PACT) systems, further augmented by cancer cell membrane‐ and organelle‐targeting. By directing photoactivated platinum complexes from nontargeted distribution to cancer cells or defined subcellular sites ...

The psychosocial toll of Dublin III on asylum seekers in the Netherlands

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract The Dublin III Regulation determines which EU Member State is responsible for examining asylum claims, but its implementation carries significant consequences for those subjected to it. This study examines how Dublin III, as implemented in the Netherlands, affects asylum seekers' psychosocial wellbeing using Silove′s Adaptation and Development

Cobalt‐Catalyzed [2σ+2π] Cycloaddition via Site‐Selective Capture of Bicyclobutane Diradical

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report a Co(II)‐catalyzed strategy that combines thermal activation of bicyclo[1.1.0]butane (BCBs) with site‐selective radical capture to furnish head‐to‐head fused bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes via [2σ+2π] cycloaddition with indoles. Detailed mechanistic studies (31P NMR, EPR, CV, and DFT) support the catalytic pathway, while phosphine‐oxide trapping and X‐

Border harm and affective injustice: The politics of anger at the Melilla border, Spain

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines protests in a detention center in Melilla, Spain—a site where structural violence intersects with the everyday harms of confinement. Adopting a justice and dignity‐centered perspective, we analyze grassroots forms of resistance emerging at the border. The study focuses on the protests of Tunisian migrants and explores the
