Identification of inhibitors of the Salmonella FraB deglycase, a drug target
A high‐throughput screen was used to identify inhibitors of Salmonella FraB, a drug target. Characterization of top hits (identified after an additional counter screen) revealed that some triazolidines, thiadiazolidines, and triazolothiadiazoles are mixed‐type inhibitors of FraB.

The increasing antibiotic resistance of pathogenic Escherichia coli species and the absence of a pan-protective vaccine pose major health concerns. We recently identified, by subtractive reverse vaccinology, nine Escherichia coli antigens that protect ...

Incorporating nanosized silver into titanium for antimicrobial materials exploits the metastable miscibility gap between silver and titanium. Silver nanoparticles are synthesized via pulsed laser ablation in liquid. Silver addition refines the microstructure, increases hardness by 30%, and reduces Staphylococcus capitis microbial adhesion by 70%, with ...

X-ray microtomographic visualization of Escherichia coli by metalloprotein overexpression [PDF]
This paper reports X-ray microtomographic visualization of the microorganism Escherichia coli overexpressing a metalloprotein ferritin. The three-dimensional distribution of linear absorption coefficients determined using a synchrotron radiation microtomograph with a simple projection geometry revealed that the X-ray absorption was homogeneously ...

Prevalence and Predictors of Urinary Tract Infection and Severe Malaria Among Febrile Children Attending Makongoro Health Centre in Mwanza City, North-Western Tanzania. [PDF]
In malaria endemic areas, fever has been used as an entry point for presumptive treatment of malaria. At present, the decrease in malaria transmission in Africa implies an increase in febrile illnesses related to other causes among underfives.

Escherichia coliin extra-intestinal infections [PDF]
When Theodor Escherich (1885a, b) first describedEscherichia colihe looked on it as a saprophytic organism. Soon several investigators found that colibacteria could be isolated from intestinal infections and from many infections outside the intestine, like urinary tract infections (UTI), cholecystitis, wound infections, meningitis, septicaemia ...

Virus‐Assembled Biofunctional Microarrays with Hierarchical 3D Nano‐Reticular Network
Virus‐assembled microdots with a wrinkled pattern induced by the high‐pressure carbon dioxide method show a morphology similar to sunflowers. Abstract Three‐dimensional (3D) hierarchical wrinkled materials built with biological entities have so far remained exclusive to nature.

Antibiotic Resistance Patterns in Enteric and Uropathogenic Strains of Escherichia Coli in Children
Background and Objective: Escherichia coli is the most common cause of urinary tract infections in children and the leading cause of intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis and abscess) followed intestinal injuries.
