Epidemiology of Salmonid Rickettsial Septicemia (SRS) in Farmed Salmon: The Role of Sea Lice Infestations in Mortality Risk

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, Volume 49, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Piscirickettsia salmonis, the causal agent of salmonid rickettsial septicemia (SRS), is the main pathogen affecting farmed salmonids in Chile. Outbreaks of SRS lead to substantial economic losses for producers. Many determinants related to SRS outcomes are still poorly understood.

Turning Mediterranean Farmlands Into Priority Habitats: Natural Expansion of Juniper Woodlands After Agricultural Abandonment

open access: yesJournal of Vegetation Science, Volume 37, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Spanish juniper woodlands are expanding across central Spain as farmland is abandoned. By combining 34 years of land‐cover data with high‐resolution photogrammetry and field measurements, we show that juniper growth depends on topography, solar exposure and competition with shrubs. High irradiance increases biomass in older stands but limits young ones,

One Health Genomic Analysis of Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus spp. From Humans, Cats, and Dogs in a Veterinary Hospital in Central Chile

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, Volume 73, Issue 3, Page 205-217, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The emergence of methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus species (MRS) poses a growing threat to both human and veterinary health. Methods We performed a comparative genomic characterisation of 49 methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus isolates collected from humans, dogs, and cats in a veterinary hospital from Central Chile.

Cu and SnO2‐Modified Carbon Felt for Electroenzymatic CO2 Upcycling

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Bioelectrode platform for sustainable CO2‐to‐formate conversion, combining electrochemical cofactor regeneration with enzyme immobilization. Cu‐modified electrodes enhanced NADH recycling compared to SnO2, while coupling with affinity‐immobilized formate dehydrogenase improved enzymatic turnover and stability while maintaining faradaic efficiency.

The Dissipation Regime of Turbulence on Mars Observed With Microphone Data From the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Abstract Turbulent winds are a regular occurrence in planetary boundary layers. Turbulence affects mixing, energy fluxes and forcing on the surface environment. Energy injected into an atmosphere generates eddies of many scales down to a size where molecular viscous forces dominate, termed the Kolmogorov length scale.

Engineering Crosslinker‐Free Sericin–Gelatin Hydrogels With Tunable Rheology for 3D Printing Applications

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 64, Issue 8, Page 1671-1680, 15 April 2026.
Gelatin derived from porcine tissue and sericin extracted from Bombyx mori cocoons are combined to form crosslinker‐free hydrogels with tunable composition, enabling extrusion‐based 3D printing and biocompatible constructs for biomedical applications. ABSTRACT Hydrogels can be processed by 3D printing to manufacture tailor made structures, broadening ...
