Intestinal Metaplasia of the Distal Esophagus in a Patient With Untreated Achalasia—An Unusual Case and Review of Literature

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Barrett's esophagus (BE) and achalasia are distinct esophageal disorders with opposing pathophysiologic mechanisms, making their coexistence exceedingly rare. Clinical Characteristics and Novel Manometric Features of Pseudoachalasia: Identification of Loss of Respiratory Variation in Lower Esophageal Sphincter Pressure

open access: yesJGH Open, Volume 10, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Pseudoachalasia closely mimics idiopathic achalasia in both symptoms and high‐resolution manometry (HRM) findings, making accurate diagnosis difficult. This study aimed to clarify the clinical characteristics of pseudoachalasia encountered at our institution and identify novel manometric findings specific to this condition.

Long‐Term Prognosis and Immunotranscriptomic Landscape in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma With Different Pathological Responses to Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
This study comprehensively characterizes the long‐term prognosis and immunotranscriptomic landscape associated with different tumor regression grades (TRGs) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) following neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. By integrating bulk RNA‐seq, single‐cell transcriptomics, and multiplexed immunohistochemistry, we demonstrate ...
