Assessing the mechanisms and impacts of shrub invasion in forests: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 60, Issue 11, Page 2314-2326, November 2023., 2023
Taken together, these results suggest that restoration efforts should focus on (i) increasing the presence of strong native competitors or functionally diverse native communities, (ii) decreasing sources of invasive shrub propagules while keeping the canopies closed when invasion occurs via high propagule pressure, (iii) avoiding management techniques ...

Effects of forest fragmentation on the weight of understory birds at the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project in Amazonia

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 54, Issue 4, Page 852-859, July 2022., 2022
Deforestation and habitat fragmentation are known as the chief drivers of biodiversity loss. Habitat fragmentation in the Brazilian Amazon was found to affect the weight of birds that remained in isolated areas. Our results provide a novel analysis into how avian body mass responds to habitat fragmentation.

Riparian reserves protect butterfly communities in selectively logged tropical forest

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 59, Issue 6, Page 1524-1535, June 2022., 2022
Mandatory conservation set‐asides around streams or rivers (riparian buffers) have an important role in protecting the abundance and composition of primary forest butterfly assemblages within selective logging concessions in tropical rainforests. This study highlights the need to assess the conservation value of protecting unlogged riparian forest ...
