Optimization of Battery Energy Storage to Improve Power System Oscillation Damping

open access: yes, 2018
A placement problem for multiple Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) units is formulated towards power system transient voltage stability enhancement in this paper. The problem is solved by the Cross-Entropy (CE) optimization method.

Direction‐of‐Arrival Estimation Using Deep Learning With Covariance Matrix Reconstruction Under Limited Snapshots

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This letter proposes a hybrid approach that combines model‐driven and data‐driven theories to strike a balance between estimation performance and computational cost. We reconstruct a structured covariance matrix by applying adaptive diagonal loading.

Identification of Parametric Underspread Linear Systems and Super-Resolution Radar

open access: yes, 2010
Identification of time-varying linear systems, which introduce both time-shifts (delays) and frequency-shifts (Doppler-shifts), is a central task in many engineering applications.

An Adaptive Deep‐Residual‐Learning Framework for Direction‐of‐Arrival Estimation Under Impulsive Noise and Varying Modulation Types

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This letter proposes a novel RI‐ResNN‐DAE framework based on deep residual learning for DOA estimation under the mixture of impulsive and nonuniform Gaussian noise, which adapts well to unknown modulation schemes. The relationship between angular resolution and the weights of deep learning model is firstly analyzed.

Deterministic Learning‐Based Fast Detection of Sub‐Synchronous Oscillations in Wind Power Grid Connection

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
ABSTRACT With the increasing integration of large‐scale renewable energy sources into the power grid, the issue of sub‐synchronous oscillation (SSO) has become more pronounced, posing a significant threat to the safe and stable operation of the power system.

Joint 2-D DOA and Doppler Estimation for L-Shaped Array via Dual PARAFAC With Triple Matching Implementation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A dual parallel factor (PARAFAC)-based approach to jointly estimating the two-dimensional direction of arrival (2-D DOA) and Doppler is proposed in this paper, where an L-shaped array consisting of acoustic vector-sensor is used.

A Tensor-Based Subspace Approach for Bistatic MIMO Radar in Spatial Colored Noise

open access: yesSensors, 2014
In this paper, a new tensor-based subspace approach is proposed to estimate the direction of departure (DOD) and the direction of arrival (DOA) for bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar in the presence of spatial colored noise.

Joint 2D-DOA and Frequency Estimation for L-Shaped Array Using Iterative Least Squares Method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2012
We introduce an iterative least squares method (ILS) for estimating the 2D-DOA and frequency based on L-shaped array. The ILS iteratively finds direction matrix and delay matrix, then 2D-DOA and frequency can be obtained by the least squares method ...

Direction-of-Arrival Estimation for Both Uncorrelated and Coherent Signals in Coprime Array

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation in coprime array involves the problem that there is the coexistence of both uncorrelated signals and coherent signals in the multipath environment.

ESPRIT in Gabor Frames

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceThis articles tackles the estimation of mode parameters in recorded sounds of resonant objects. High resolution methods such as the ESPRIT method have already proved to be of great use for this sort of purpose.
