Five Essential Properties of Disease Maps

Annals of the Association of American Geographers, 2012
We argue that as the disease map user group grows, disease maps must prioritize several essential properties that support public health uses of disease maps.

Essential Equivariant Maps and Borsuk-Ulam Theorems

Journal of the London Mathematical Society, 2000
Let \(G\) be a compact Lie group, \(X\) be a \(G\)-space and \(f:X\to X\) be self \(G\)-map. In this interesting paper the authors deal with the following two basic questions: (1) For which groups \(G\) is every self \(G\)-map essential? (2) For which \(G\)-spaces is every self \(G\)-map essential?

Essential extension type maps for general classes of maps

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2010
This paper discusses admissible (and more general) maps between topological spaces. We show that if F is H-essential and F ≅ G then G has a fixed point.

Analogs of Essential Singularities for Sequences of Polynomial Mappings

Functional Analysis and Its Applications, 2001
For a sequence of polynomial self-mappings of \({\mathbb C}^n\) and a given ball in \({\mathbb C^n}\), the author puts some conditions guaranteeing that the union of images of any large concentric ball is everywhere dense. Under slightly more stronger conditions, one can use a sequence of concentric balls with radii converging to zero.

RANDOM DEGREE AND ESSENTIALITY FOR COUNTABLY CONDENSING MAPS

Stochastic Analysis and Applications, 2002
The aim of this paper is to provide (i) a random degree theory, and (ii) an essential map theory, for countably condensing maps.

Contour Mapping—An Essential Tool Revisited

Journal AWWA, 1975
The technique of contour mapping is recommended as an indispensable instrument in evaluating an ecosystem. Since the subject is unfamiliar to many, this article explains the basic steps involved in plotting such a map.

Essential fixed points of the multivalued mappings

1962
Let X be a compact metric space and let f be a continuous mapping of X into itself. Under an essential assumption that space X has the fixed point property, i.e., that every mapping of X into itself has at least one fixed point, M. K. Fort, Jr., has introduced the notion of an essential fixed point of f and has proved that each mapping f ...

Mapping essential oral healthcare for the Australian context

Australian Health Review
Australia’s universal healthcare scheme, Medicare, has largely excluded oral healthcare resulting in inequitable access to affordable, essential oral healthcare. To achieve inclusion of oral health within Australia’s universal healthcare scheme, it is necessary to identify and define the dental services that constitute essential oral healthcare.

Essential category weight and phantom maps

2001
The purpose of this paper is to study the relationship between maps with infinite essential category weight and phantom maps (there is a brief summary of the main results on essential category weight in the appendix to this paper). It is not hard to see that any map with E(f) = oo is a phantom map.

Essential Fish Habitat Mapping in the Mediterranean

2008
Proper designation of Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) is a highly important spatial measure in any management of fishery resources. EFH is defined as those waters and substrates necessary to fish for spawning, breeding, feeding, or growth to maturity, a definition that includes the physical, chemical and biological properties of marine areas and the ...
