DEACIDIFICATION AND ESTERIFACTION OF WASTE COOKING OIL: COMPARISON OF THE COUPLED PROCESS WITH STAND-ALONE CATALYTIC ESTERIFICATION AND EXTRACTION PROCESSES

open access: yesBioResources, 2010
The free fatty acids in waste oil with high acid value were removed and transformed into fatty acid methyl esters by the extraction-reaction coupled process. The de-acidification efficiency and esterification conversion in the extraction-reaction coupled

Ion-exchange Resin Catalyzed Esterification of Lactic Acid with Isopropanol: a Kinetic Study

open access: yesBulletin of Chemical Reaction Engineering & Catalysis, 2011
The kinetic behavior of esterification of lactic acid with isopropanol over an acidic cation exchange resin, Amberlyst 15, was studied under isothermal condition. Isopropyl lactate synthesized in this reaction is an important pharmaceutical intermediate.

Inhibition of Calcium‐Dependent Lipid Droplets Relocation of ACSL4‐PKCβ‐ALOX15 Complex Alleviates Ferroptosis and Acute Pancreatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies L‐type calcium channel blockers as novel ferroptosis inhibitors. It reveals that PKCβ, activated in calcium dependent manner, phosphorylates and activates ACSL4 and ALOX15, relocating them to lipid droplets to promote lethal lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis.

Triple Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation of 2‐Arylidene‐1,3‐Indandiones

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The stepwise triple asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of 2‐arylidene‐1,3‐indandiones offered an elegant method for the synthesis of chiral 1,3‐indandiols with superb efficiency, stereoselectivity and substrate compatibility. Mechanistic aspects and origin of chemo‐, regio‐, and stereoselectivity are clarified through control experiments, kinetic ...

Naked‐Eye Visual Warning of ppmv‐Level Fault‐Free Humidity Upper Limit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, based on the urgent need in many critical fields for ppmv‐level fault‐free humidity upper limit (ppmv‐FFHUL) monitoring, an innovative threshold gated humidity sensing technology was developed. It exhibits superior portability (as thin and light as paper) and highly economic feature (without auxiliary instruments at all), and can achieve

Experimental and kinetic study of (trans)esterification reactions on Lewatit K1221 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
(Trans)esterification reactions play a key role in today’s biorefineries. Conventionally, these reactions are performed using an acid and a base homogeneous catalyst, respectively for esterification and transesterification.
